Been doing some research and found texas was one of the states that let educators carry concealed. Can this be possible to get a petition going through our state. If so, lets start one up and inform our community about and give real statistics and proof this state can carry everywhere. Make our streets a.d school safe for all!

Bob Beers brought a bill up to do just that about 3 sessions ago. It hit the media and some blame that bill for him not being re elected.

You have to consider Federal and State Laws.

Concealed carry would allow them to carry in the FGFSZ(Federal Law), but not on school property (Nevada State Law).

But... there are some exceptions in the Federal and Nevada State law that allows schools to give permission to carry within the FGFSZ and on school property.

Federal
(iv) by an individual for use in a program approved by a
school in the school zone;
(v) by an individual in accordance with a contract entered
into between a school in the school zone and the
individual or an employer of the individual
;

Nevada

This section does not prohibit the possession of a weapon listed in subsection 1 on the property of:

(a) A private or public school or child care facility by a:

(1) Peace officer;

(2) School security guard; or

(3) Person having written permission from the president of a branch or facility of the Nevada System of Higher Education or the principal of the school or the person designated by a child care facility to give permission to carry or possess the weapon
.

These, however, would be at the discretion of the school authorities.

A repeal of the FGFSZ and a change to the NRS would be the way to go.

To ALL Whom are Concerned:

In Light of Recent Events..., it is Entirely Unlikely that The Federal Congress will do anything with United States Federal Law 18 U.S.C. 922(q).

However, Nevada COULD Capitalize on an Exception under Currently Existing Federal Law 18 U.S.C. 922(q)(2)(B)(ii) to Authorize Holders of a Nevada Concealed Carry Permit Issued by The Sheriff to Carry a Firearm or a Weapon to or while at, in, on, or within 1000 Linear Feet of a Public School Grades K-12 by Providing an Additional Exception for such Concealed Carry Permit Holders under Nevada Revised Statute 202.265.
