I went through the same thing yesterday. My daughter was in an accident and had a concussion. I had to leave it in he car.
Prayers sent for your father.

I work for Sentara. They are a private non profit health care system. As such, not directly receiving public funds to operate, they are free to set their property rules. Depending on your interpretation of "trespassing" you may carry until asked to leave. Security policy is to politely ask armed people to store in their car. Sentara Careplex has a large sign stating you can store your gun with security. Sentara Security is unarmed however NPD posts an LEO in the Norfolk General ED waiting area. In my experience the ones I've seen in there should be medically retired. Probably why they drew that assignment.

It was no big deal, I just headed back to the car, and stuck it in the trunk. Dad seems to be ok. He's been discharged, with a follow up to a heart specialist, to make sure they didn't miss anything. Blood-Pressure was really high though still, and they are looking for a fix for that. Peter, check your PM. I found something, that if I can get permission to use, you may like it, to email to Sentor's here in VA.

Glad your Dad's OK.
The first time my Father had a heart attack was on Christmas Eve 30 couple of years ago. Things were never quite the same after that.
