I was eating breakfast at my favorite Denny's in Troy on Friday morning, when.....what, to my wondering eyes should appear....but a pair of Troy's finest, but no sign of reindeer.
One officer stood at the doorway as another entered, walked around my strong side, glanced at my Springfield Armory 1911, nodded at me, then proceeded to leave...whereupon, I finished eating my breakfast in peace.
Obviously, someone MWAG'ed me, because these officers did not linger to partake of the fine cuisine. (The term "fine" being loosely applied.)
No police contact. Why can't every encounter be handled so adroitly? They obviously had to respond, yet once they arrived, they split. I didn't even see them speak to another patron or anyone that might have called to ask questions or explain anything. Just walk in, look at my gun, and walk out. I have a feeling that, had I not been facing the door, I'd have never seen them. (But, of course, I ALWAYS face the door.)
(As a side note: I'm certain they were familiar with me before they even arrived. I've encountered Lincoln County deputies on numerous occasions as they often dine there. I even see a Trooper every so often.)
