I can't tell you how many times I have heard and read that over the years and what always comes to mind when is Martin Niemöller's famous piece of prose;

First they came for the communists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the jews,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the catholics,
and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a catholic.

Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

This needs to be repeated often....

I can't figure out if it is nationalistic pride, hubris, lunacy that people think somehow allowing similar control by our government will somehow have different results than what has been proven to happen historically time and time again.

Yep. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is, what else, insanity.

They are doubling down, publishing an additional entire county of gun owners names.

This is so wrong.

I used to be active on a mailing list for long range rifle shooters.

There was a Canadian guy there who was the textbook gun control "fellow traveler". Among other things he claimed that nobody needed a "sniper rifle", but couldn't tell me the difference between a 1,000 yard target rifle and a "sniper rifle".

His unconditional love of government extended to a claim that if the government ordered you into a racially based concentration camp (eg. Auschwitz, Manzanar, Serbian ethnic cleansing), that you actually had a DUTY to go, and that you should "fight it in court".

THEN, he got into a dispute with the Canadian firearms registry people. He then got into it with a couple of Canadian cops, to whom he claimed the registry people were providing his private communications with them.

I posted the Niemoller quote, to which he replied?

"What the hell does that mean?"

That about says it all, doesn't it?

The Canadians, who by far and by large are a nice lot, but they are NOT like us. We are unique among all other nations, past and present, in the world.

Want some "mental entertainment"? The next time you go into a publically funded library, ask about computer censorship which in all probability is and has been in force for some time now. Ask whose software program(s) they're using to control what you do or do not dl while you're in that American and American paid for library. Odds are it's a Canadian firm which is anti-gun.
