    I'll bet you a line of $100 bills as long as I am (that would total about $1000) that it's a semiautomatic.
    And that's from the deputy police chief!
    If the "pro's" can't give out accurate information, how can the press report accurately?
    Shouldn't they be able to rely on what the police say to be true & accurate?

    This guy said it perfectly(minus his inability to spell):

    "I'm guessing the wrighter meant SEMI automatic, unless of course it was an NFA gun. I'm wondering why this is news worthy? I don't see a story every time someone has an accident with any other inanimate object."

    Because it involves a firearm. The media will report anything they feel will "Sell" their product. They don't care if it is accurate or if it is newsworthy or not. The word "GUN" sell papers and airtime right now!!!!
