Every once in a while I make a monumental blunder and become a little too trusting and gullible. So was the case when I fell for the BULL$HIT from the DNC about how they weren't going to go after guns and that the NRA was crazy for saying they would when they hadn't in the first term. I fell for it hook, line, and sinker. I repeated it to family and friends and now I look like a total jackass! Worse yet, I voted for those lying bastards, and even donated to their campaign. I want my money back! I have half a mind to call up their offices and demand my money back.

So I'm here to say to any of you that had a jackass like me try to tell you this wouldn't happen, I apologize. I hope you can forgive me and others like me and understand that it's not entirely our fault, for we were duped by these lying pack of serpents in Washington. Furthermore, I will try to make amends by being more vigilant in whom I support and don't support in the mid-terms and future elections.

You learn, you move on. I don't waste time with politics. It and religion are opiates of the masses. That's not to say I don't stay in tune with current events. It's more fun being outside of the political camps and pointing out the hypocracy of both of the two major political parties. Members of both are tools.

Not just you....

I used to consider myself a republican, but I fell for Obama's promise of hope, change & transparency on his original term. $$ and my vote went to him. Of course, I did not do the same this time around, I had learned - but I still hold responsibility for the 1st term.

Although Romney got my vote, I wasn't fully onboard with him either.

I learned not to trust the DNC or the GOP years ago.

What took you so long?

File a small claims case asking for the money back ... I'm sure it will at least make the news.

The democrats are now either fascists and/or communists and the republicans are now democrats...when comparing parties today v. 20 years ago. IMO

Speaking of parties-on-the-whole. Individuals may vary but on the whole, I think that this is accurate.

People scream about the Tea Party but their platform is similar to that of the GOP in 1990...now the GOP does not like them and the democrats hate them.

I switched years ago to the Libertarian party. I don't agree with everything of the party platform but I never did with any party.

As betrayed as you feel about the dems, think about this: If we had Mitt at this point, we may very well have been in the same position. As far as I'm concerned, we had a lose-lose dichotomy between a Socialist Democrat and a slightly less Socialist Republican, neither was ever much of a friend of firearms owners. Heck, Bush Jr. himself said he would have signed another AWB if it were presented to him, but at least he didn't push for it.

I think the best thing one could do, especially if your state has Democrat senators and representatives, write to them calmly, concisely, intelligently and politely explain that you're an independent voter who usually votes Democrat, and you are disappointed with their party's performance and ideas on these matters. If they won relatively narrowly, like those in my state, they may be more easily swayed. If they won by a landslide, fat chance.

As far as I'm concerned, we all collectively need to get involved in the primary elections and make sure examples such as these two don't get the nomination.

I would rather have Nixon, in his present condition, as POTUS than barry. Realize your mistake, learn from it, drive on. Do what you can to limit any losses until he is gone.

Like the others said, live and learn. The problem is that both major parties are in it for themselves, not the people. It wouldn'ta mattered which way you voted; if they'd won, you'da got burned. If not on guns, then economically or in some other way.

There ws someone that could have made a real difference...but not enough people can see past the retoric, or want to protect "their" freebe....

Than was RON PAUL

After that failed, we still had Johnson.

The republocrats only want to protect THEIR votes with your money.

I like the analogy I heard on Mises audio daily, great podcasts I listen to while driving. Beats talk radio.

Voting for Romney or Obama, was like voting for two carts full of goods at store. One cart might have a few more goods in it you like than the other cart, but even if you win that cart, they can decide to take all the good stuff out and your are just stuck with a bunch of items you didn't want. And the bill. Of course I modified the example given to reflect some of my personal thoughts.

If you had all voted Libertarian, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

And don't for one minute think that Romney, a Massachusetts liberal, would not be cowtowing to the anti-gunners right now. The last thing we need is a president who gets along with Congress well enough to actually get something through Congress.

It would take a lot more than just us few on the forum.

The only republican I would have voted for is Ron Paul. Other than that we don't need two socialist parties. I actually feel we need no parties.

What on earth is the benefit of towing cows to the anti-gunners?

You live and you learn. I was very disillusioned by Bush's second term. I voted Ron Paul in he primary cause I thought he made the most sense.

Write your reps, politely, but firmly and inform them of your disappointment. There is a chance hey may listen.
