A Blackshirt is someone that looks like he is the manager of a shoe department.
Usually wears heavy black plastic framed glasses.
Wears a Black Shirt with a catchy phrase like Death Striker on it.
Usually has a 2 meter radio on his belt
Talks in Military Acronyms while standing at ease
Knows Carlos Hathcock's life history.

So Mr. TactiCool?

Will they have pistols for sale at the gun show? I've never been to one, but I'm thinking of picking up a .38 for myself if I can find one

I thought you were kidding!!!

Turns out you really never have been to a gun show.:shocker:

In spite of the panic-induced high prices and shortage of just about anything that "looks scary", this is a great time to attend your first show. And The Showplace is a great location. There is no picture-taking allowed (without prior permission) but you can bring pen and paper to take notes with. List all the folks you see that make The People of Wal-Mart look rspectable. (Listing Peter Nap loses you 10 points.:p) Have contests to see who can come closest to guessing how short that skirt is, how low those drawers droop, how many tacticool accessories that person has attached to themself/their shoot-me-first vest, how many felonies that person has probably committed, and of course keeping an eye out to see who wins a set of new stainless steel bracelets and try to guess why. Either bring your own drinks/food or pay the inflated prices at the concession stand. Just remember that anything you want to pick up has already been picked up by someone/something else, so hand sanitizer if you are squeamish. (Most of us just take our chances.) Stop by the VCDL table and schmooze a while.

If you do see a screaming, must-have deal but anticipate a delay of more than a few hours, negotiate to have the item shipped to your FFL - the cost of which might remove it from the "screaming must-have deal" status. Or look at the delay as an excuse for a drive in the country to go pick up your new toy. (I know, you are a poor collee student and can't afford to be galivanting all over the place.)

Not all the face-to-face deals are done with the folks walking around with "for sale" signs. There are usually a few tables that are not dealers. If you are interested in Colt wheelguns there should be a few non-dealers who have gotten together to get a table.

stay safe.

Richmond Gun Show -- Saturday --

Alright! Sounds like fun. I asked my little brother if he wants to come, so hopefully he will be with me. As far as the VCDL table, will I be able to sign up there? I feel guilty having not done so yet, but funds were tight last year. ;)

Esanders, I hope you can make the breakfast too. I'm going to try to get my family out the door in time to make it. Turns out we're doing Richmond on Saturday and then Dale City on Sunday, just to show support for the firearms community.

Yes, you can join VCDL at the gun show. Bring $25 cash, check or credit card per membership.

Unlike the NRA, VCDL can not afford to buy you a ticket to get in if you join/renew at the gun show. (Both VCDL and NRA have a table to the right of the doors as you come in and before yo buy your ticket.) Someone at the VCDL table might try to tell you that the temporary membership card you get when you sign up is good for a discount at the concession stand. Be very careful when listening to the description of that discount!

OTOH, VCDL membership does get you discounts with a number of folks. Check out the list http://www.vcdl.org/static/discounts.html .

stay safe.

Of course. My brother and I are getting up bright and early just to make the drive

Looks like we are going to need to get a big table. Look for us somewhere on the left or in the back as you come in, or just ask "Where are all the folks with guns".

stay safe.

I plan on heading up to this show an hour early. But I was wondering if I were to find a "deal" on a lower receiver, what is the law in VA? Would I need an FFL transfer or just proof of residency and a handshake?

I was at a show in Chantilly and I was told that it would be a felony if I face to face sold an "assault" rifle even to a VA resident. I am not sure if they were just trying to scare me into using them for an FFL transfer.

I am new to VA so I am unsure of the laws.

Thanks and I hope to see you all at the show tomorrow.

It always makes me wonder when people ask questions like this.....:uhoh:

If you are a Virginia resident and if you have no legal disabilities that would prevent you from buying a gun, you can buy a so called assault rifle or lower (Or any other part of a semi automatic rifle)

If you buy it from an FFL licensed dealer, you must do the paperwork, have the background check and what ever else you would do in a gun shop.

If you buy it from an individual, there is no background check or paperwork.

If you are here to illegally buy a gun either as an antigun person, Brady employee or other, you are a criminal and if any of us see you doing it, you get to spend some quality time entertaining bubba in the showers.

I am not trying to sound like sketchy cargo shorts kid.

What Scouser is saying is that in my opinion:

A. Persons using a permit as good neighbor credentials are rated somewhere near Child Molesters,

and

B. There is no such thing as a CCW in Virginia.

If you want a permit so you can stuff something down your pants, that's fine. If you want to use it to gain special person status, might be good to stay north of the Ni.

Also, you aren't going to find any deals on lowers at this show. If you can find them, they're cheaper in the stores than they will be at the show.

I have to complete uppers I'm selling and they ain't cheap.

It was my mistake for joining this thread. I understand your concern, however, I am insulted by your replies. Because I mention a permit you compare me to a child molester? You both are seriously rude and unwelcoming.

You take tongue-in-cheek far too personally.......that and this is an Open Carry site in both function and form.

It is good to have a thick enough hide to shed imagined ills.

I'm confused ..

is he claiming that both of us are seriously rude and unwelcoming ...
... or ...
is he claiming that you, mr nap, are both seriously rude and unwelcoming
??

oh well .. doesn't really matter, I don't feel like being the English Language Grammer (national socialist party member) today

Nice translation on my comment peter, you got it pretty much perfect ...

However, my apologies go out to those who are lacking both a sense of humor and a thick skin
