Bear in mind, however, that Feinstein will likely get the domain name back. ICANN has rules in place against certain kinds of domain squatting. If somehow IBM didn't pay its registrar by mistake you won't be keeping ibm.com unless IBM abandons it, because IBM is a unique identifier. "senatorfeinstein" is a similarly unique identifier. I doubt she could stop the sniping of "diannefeinstein.com", because her name by itself isn't unique.

Did she ever own that name? Did she let it lapse? Or did she never register it?

Anyway, even if eventually the store loses the domain, the damage will have been done. Owning the domain for a year instead of a month will accomplish little more than it already has.

I don't think it will matter since she most likely didn't copyright and/or trademark her name. The website they bought isn't a variation of the one she already has, e.g. senator-feinstein.com as opposed to senatorfeinstein.com, so I don't think it's considered squatting.

That being said, I only know a little about laws around this, and even then, this is what I learned a few years back in school. I definitely could be wrong, but I hope I'm not! This was an ingenious idea.

Karma?

Somethings good here.

Di Fi used to pack illegally in Calif. until her police escort got tired of her anti gun rhetoric and told her point blank..... get a permit, lose the gun, or ****. She got the permit. She also made a big deal out of getting rid of it when she made Senator.....for the PR value......rumor has it she did that AFTER obtaining some sort of federal (i.e. nationwide) permission slip (Cali CCW not being recognized in DC ya know).

Of course I'm sure she also has tax payer funded armed guards.

Hypocrite
