We are now running on a new, and hopefully much-improved, server. In addition we are also on new forum software. Albuquerque armed citizen acts in self-defense, is arrested

This happened in Albuquerque. I don't see why the citizen was arrested, etc. since he's not the one who started the fight... the Obama supporter was the instigator, saying "people like you should be shot".

After all, if the police can kill people and get away with it by saying "I thought he had a weapon", this guy (who only held the attacker for police) should be walking free.

Just going by what was in the article, it seems he may have a problem. A shoving match isn't really cause for fear of your life or great bodily harm unless it escalates into an actual fistfight, and claiming you thought someone had a weapon when he has made no indication of such is not strong ground to try to stand on.
Best to just ignore someone and walk away- accusations and other words thrown just aren't worth what this gun carrier may be facing.
