AN ACT REQUIRING GUN OWNERS TO CARRY LIABILITY INSURANCE.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to require any person seeking to purchase a firearm or ammunition to acquire an insurance policy and present the proof of policy insurance to a firearm dealer, including a licensed gun dealer at a gun show, and to further require any person who currently owns a firearm to obtain such an insurance policy for such firearm.

Statement of Purpose:

To ensure adequate financial resources to compensate victims of gun violence.

this is completely impossible. because don't you need to give the insurance company the make/model/serial# to the insurance company in order to create a policy or add it to an existing policy? therefore no proof can be given until AFTER adding it to a policy.

not only that, but this would just be one more way for the gov to keep a record of all firearms owned by every individual

And if you just wanted to purchase ammo? What if a friend and you allow each other to shoot each others guns at the range...you just need to provide for your own ammo ...

Its another idiot proposing another idiotic idea.

Isn't this unlawful in the same way that a poll tax is? Ie. making a constitutional right more/only accessible to those who can afford these insurance premiums?
