The BFPE has resolved itself to oppose the proposed permit confidentiality repeal

Connecticut, January 10, 2013:

On Thursday January 10th, 2013 the Board of Firearm Permit Examiners (BFPE) voted in a resolution that they would officially oppose Representative Dargan’s bill (HB 5112) to make public the names and addresses of Connecticut State Pistol Permit holders.

Citing issues of public safety and privacy, the board voted to oppose the legislative attempt, but to hold off on exact wording until the proposed bill had more solid wording so that they would not waste their efforts in trying to hit a moving target.

Connecticut Carry applauds the BFPE for their judgment on this issue and their willingness to take a stance in a politically charged arena to do what is right for the citizens and permit holders of Connecticut. We realize it is not always easy to do the right thing during the hard times. The BFPE is once again showing their commitment to ‘do the right thing’, and we commend them for that.

We look forward to another year of working with the BFPE to resolve many of the issues that permit applicants and holders face in this state.

You can listen to the discussion at the hearing here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsJ3nVUlVRw

Maybe they'll pass another resolution stating that they won't violate people's due process rights at their hearings anymore....
