AN ACT REQUIRING FINGERPRINTING AND CRIMINAL
BACKGROUND CHECKS PRIOR TO THE SALE, DELIVERY OR
TRANSFER OF ALL LONG GUNS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General
Assembly convened:
1 That section 29-37a of the general statutes be amended to provide
2 that, prior to the sale, delivery or transfer of any firearm other than a
3 pistol or revolver to any person, (1) the fingerprints of such person
4 shall be taken and submitted to the Department of Emergency Services
5 and Public Protection and (2) the Department of Emergency Services
6 and Public Protection shall determine that such person is eligible to
7 receive such firearm by completing a national instant criminal
8 background check.
Statement of Purpose:
To require the completion of fingerprinting and a criminal background
check prior to the sale, delivery or transfer of any long gun.
