Just saw from a link on a twitter feed to fox that Mexico is wanting a list of all gun owners in border states. With Mexico being as corrupt as it is, I'd be looking at why possibly the cartel would want to know.

why they want to know?
1) so they know where to go to steal guns
2) so they know where NOT to illegally cross the border

Ask and ye shall receive. http://communities.washingtontimes....13/feb/19/mexico-ask-senate-registry-us-guns/

From the Washington Times

FUQ: DALLAS, February 19, 2013 — In the wake of a tense national clash over the issue of gun control, Mexico has taken an action sure to fan the flames of controversy. In January, the Mexico Permanent Commission reportedly voted to formally ask the United States Senate for a registry of all commercialized firearms in the border states of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

If the govt gives it up, that's unreal. I happen to remember the Mexican govt holding a marine in one of their prisons for legally claiming a sears & Roebuck shotgun while going to his families property in Mexico. The Mexican govt refused cooperation and if I remember correctly, private groups led the fight to get him out.

There was a program about 5-6 years ago that America and Mexico and I believe some other countries were involved in that gave those countries access to our database of American firearms owners to trace guns used in crimes in those countries. I forget the name of it though.

There is no database of owners. (Except if you live if Tinfoiltown)

Such a list cannot exist, since private transactions are not recorded. And there are lots of private transactions.

As to Mexico asking for something like this, I'm thinking...no way, Jose.

I have a FFL buddy who only uses the paper 4472. That e-form is a means to let the government have a DB of retail purchases according to him. I have no doubt that there is "a list", how accurate that list is is a different issue.

We use the e-form. The data on the e-form only exists on the laptop until we print the form and close the program. The data is then deleted. Your FFL buddy is full of it.

Almost everyday on my scanner I hear a call where police are going to a house and before they get there they ask dispatch to run a firearms check. Many times dispatch comes back and tells the officers of various firearms registered to the person.

I guess dispatch just gets that information from............?

It's posts like this that are useless because you don't have your location listed under your username.

That's because you live in a socialist state that requires the registration of nearly all guns. The majority of the country isn't like that.
