Hello everyone. Just registered today since I have decided that I will try open carrying for the first time. Unfortunately, as far as I know, it is not legal to open carry here in Fenton. I will be doing so elsewhere, though.

Welcome aboard OCDO infowarrior.

There is a lot going on in Missouri - plenty of catching up to do.

Check out some of the local meet-n'-greets and get to know some of the good people personally.

As stated, there is a lot happening in Missouri. Check some of the most recent posts on this forum to get up to speed at bit. We just had a meet up last Sunday, sorry you missed it. With al that is happening in the legislature I'll just offer up one piece of advice. Be sure OC is legal and go with someone who know what they are doing if you decide to oc in STL metro area anytime in the next two months. The last thing, the very last thing we want is any bad press with the legislature in session!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have OC Bills in the mix, the last two years OCers in the metro area did things that did not go over well and got press coverage that was not helpful to us.

I am more than happy to take someone, as are others in the STL area, on their early OC walk abouts. Be careful, take the time to learn.

PLEASE!

You're right, I guess I do need some catching up to do. I do have a CCW license and carry regularly that way. I think will take your advice and be with someone who is more experienced than I am before I OC alone. Last I heard, it wasn't legal to OC in STL city area? The last thing I want to do is bring bad press to our cause.

NO you cannot OC in the City of St. Louis, YES you have a lot to learn and NO I'm not going to detail all of the Yes legal and No not legal because that is the biggest subject of all. Municipality by municipality. When you see th enext meet up, try to get to it. We've had a numbre of folks who want to meet up but don't show up in the STL area. We'll do it soon enough. Use the PM (private message) feature on this forum to try and meet up with an individual or two, best bet for right now.

Welcome! If you're willing to head out to the O'Fallon/Lake St Louis/Wentzville/St. Charles area I'd be more than happy to meet with you for an OC walk. I know the LSL walmart is pretty up to speed on it being legal.

Also, take a look at the Where Did You Carry and How Did It Go thread stickied at the top of the MO section here. It's a great place to hear from other people and learn a little too.

Almost all of St. Charles is a great place to cut your teeth on OC. Bass Pro in St. Charles is a definate plus for getting comfortable with OC, as is Starbucks and JJ's.

I always OC when there and I've run into OCers I know there as well. It is corporate policy for Bass pro not to interfere with OCers where open carry is legal.

Main Street Olde Town St. Charles is another good place to go. The LEOs know the law very well!!! There is a video about how they got educated!

If you want to get "use to it", go where it is definately OC legal, get over the stairs, be polite and educate where possible.

If we get preemption there will no doubt be a lot more OCers in this State!
If you OC often enough, you will get over the worry, concern and people looking at you. It is legal, it will be more socially recognized....

Can't emphasize the be polite part enough. Often, a persons only exposure to OC is you. They will determine their view on OC based on their interaction with you. Not trying to put pressure on you, but just being a normal person who's polite and not abrasive goes a long way.

Can't wait.

We're working on it... If successful the law wouldn't even go into affect till, hummmm..... I think the effective date is Aug. 28th. The "party" for the STL area is already planned, just need the law~

Hey guys,

I just stumbled across the forum while searching some info online. I work in Fenton, live in STL.

I would be interested in going along for some OC walks.

I se you are "new". Don't OC walk in Fenton, it is not legal. You need to meet up with soem OCers, read past posts and come up to speed on OC and law.
Eventually there will be a meet up, be careful, OC has places where it is NOT legal in certain municipalities and you can be arrested. It will take you a while to coem up to speed, be patient, meet up, read previous posts.
