Okay, I may have missed this tidbit in the earlier links or posts, but...
Update:
According to an article from Feb. 23 in The Times Bulletin, Regedanz has been put on administrative leave starting Jan. 23 2013. The Times Bulletin cites a letter from Celina Safety-Service Director, Tom Hitchcock, that states the leave is "as a result of unusual behavior on your part while at work, which could result in disciplinary action and/or possible criminal charges." The newspaper says that Regedanz was also required to take a psychological evaluation.

Yes, that quote is in reference to the cop, not the victim.

Joanie, you may be on to something here.

Not to stir up anything, but here is a question that is on my mind. Have the anti-gunners found a way to take care of open carry business? So their plan is; they call 911 anonymously and say a man with a gun is threatening people. Open carrier is just walking, no shirt with a cowboy hat. Cops approach with guns blazing. Open carry problem solved with no witness; seems like it may be a new game plan with the cops as the tool.

That's an extreme what-if. Much more likely: A 911 caller lies about an OCer's behavior, giving the officer RAS for an investigatory stop.

Your recorder should have been running along, providing evidence that you did not do what the caller said you did. The officer should stop you and ask you to identify yourself and notice that you are behaving quite civilly and legally. Unless the caller is willing to swear out a complaint, there is nothing more that legally can be done since the officer is surely not going to personally observe you doing anything wrong.

That is not to say that the officer won't overstep his bounds, however we should all be prepared for such violations.

But...guns ablazing??? That is not nearly as likely as being in the area of an active shooter or being struck on the head by blue ice from an airline toilet.

While there are numerous instances of cops who many think used their firearms criminally, I don't know of a single instance of an OCer just walking around being gunned down without some intervening interaction between the carrier and the officer(s).

There are many instances cops come out with guns blazing. Check out some traffic chases on YouTube with a cop. Soon after the stop, the entire car is shot up without provocation because the cop’s adrenalin is flowing.

This open carrier’s story could have gone like this; cop shows up to the seen with his gun drawn and his emotions on high alert. All of a sudden the open carrier makes a move responding to the officer request, and it’s not reaching for a gun. Next thing you hear is pop, pop, pop. Man with a gun down.

Nither do I, don't mean they don't exist. Like the deaf wood carver. A cop from behind yelled at him to drop the knife, he didn't hear it and was shot a few times killed from behind. Kelly Thomas had only a backpack when police beat him to death and to this day, can't come up with a single crime to charge him with. I have personally known police to spin the story, lie on reports, to cover for their misdeeds. It's why I was wondering why they never mentioned anything about a gun found. Only that a caller seen him with a gun handeling it inappropratly.. That may be the case, Odd that he would see the cop and still do so, deathwish maybe?

Yes, and I think it's important to stay critical and always allow for possibilites. To not just take a news story, or police statment at face value. More than that, I have an issue with the way police would treat an open carrier, or really anyone they consider suspect. The "get face down on the ground" command, is but one example of how many police see themselves so much above those who might pay the taxes to fund their employment. That ground is dirty, and we as lowlife suspects must sit, or lay on it when being checked out. You can't tell me these goons and thugs don't enjoy this. Not to say all police are power tripping, but I've seen enough of them, and not known a single one that wouldn't lie to cover for another cop.

Just got a phone call, looks like insurance is gonna total out my car. I asked if I can keep it, they have to get back to me. I guess I should look up the value of it, can't be much. I really like that car

I think I want my gun glued in the holster so there will be no question. Maybe one of those Surpas rigged not to release. lol,, kidding of corse.

Context. The "guns ablazing" is being discussed in the context of an OCer. Such has NEVER occurred to my knowledge. If it has, enlighten me.

No doubt they exist. However, in the current discussion, they are irrelevant.

The guns ablazing topic came up in relation to an OCer, just minding his business, being called into 911 and being lied about, prompting a police officer to come after him with guns blazing.

Nothing even remotely similar to this has ever happened to my knowledge. If anyone knows of such an event, I am more than willing to be enlightened.

Makarov brought up an extreme "what if" scenario, he didn't it had actually happened to anyone.

As for the videos, I can only think of one that even comes close to what Makarov described in the first half of his post. Since there are millions of Youtube videos, and I have just enough of a life to NOT have time to watch them all, I would still love to get those links. To keep this thread 'clean' of wayward topics of discussion, he can just send me a PM.

Then I will post the links here.

This one was just stupid. At least this cop is no longer on that force.

Guess what? Ernie moved!

A guy with mental problems gets shot for what? Holding 6 cops at bay with a knife? I would say "live and learn", but...

The shotgun in the guys hand had NOTHING to do with it, I'm sure.

Okay, this one is the Oscar Grant shooting. The officer supposedly meant to taze Grant but shot him instead. When you see how the officer reacted after the shot, I don't feel the shooting was intentional.

This one is intriguing. This does, like one commenter mentioned, look like a cop silencing a witness.

This is what happens when you pull a gun on the cops. You can see him reaching into his pocket as he pulls away from the cop.

Hmm. Dog attacking and there is no fence or leash to restrain him? I'd shoot it, too.

Oh, come on. This is about a military order NOT happening on American soil. EVERY president has these choices to make. Alex Jones is a bit of a sensationalist.

The problem is, none of these are even close to what Makarov described. He said:

THOSE are the links I was asking for. The one's WITHOUT provocation. And I'm not trying to put him on the spot, I ACTUALLY wanted to see them.

Still do.

NOT happening on American soil.

That we know of, keep in mind, for every incident caught on tape, think of how many are not.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahWCDky__zo

Not on American soil?, have you read NDAA? Obama wrote and pushed it through. Passed it and when the supreeme court repealed it, he fought to get it reinstated. It says American can be arrested on American soil without due process, well, arrested, killed, disapeared. Also lays out guidelines to make it a crime for anyone to question their disapearence.

heres one from Rob Dew that should hit home on this site.

This dog was running up to someone on the dog's own property, could have been to attack, or just being friendly. Would you enter someone's property and kill their dog?

Here you go! This suspect was not armed. After the chase the cop is on top of the hood shooting multiple times through the window. This is what happens when adrenalin enters the picture. I’m not anti-cop but I will not put past anyone who has some sort of power to abuse it. Even if it might seem likes its harmless abuse, it’s still abuse and the police are the biggest offenders because they have a stressful and egotistical job. It’s human nature!

Except for his car. At the beginning of that clip, the officer can be heard saying that the suspect just tried to ram him.

After the suspect fails to surrender and starts driving away with the officer on the hood. Looks like a good shoot to me. I'm going to show that one to my son. He'll be old enough to drive soon.

After a high speed chase with a perp who doesn't seem to care who he hurts with his car. AND fails to follow orders to stop and get out of his car?

Yep. There's some adrenaline at work there.

FYI - This clip is from Blue Ash, a suburb of Cincinnati. Blue Ash Chili is my favorite restaurant!

I was hoping to see a chase and a shooting, without any justification for the shooting. Actually, I wasn't HOPING to see that, but I did want to see it if it existed.

I would have to think the media would be more inclined to cover up that a gun was not found than one being found. Sure it would be a little redundant to say there was a man with a gun call and it turns out he had a gun. But is the media always truthful? It wouldn't help any gun control agenda by saying there was a MWAG call but no gun was found.

Folks, read the testimony* from the inquest. It was determined that this drug-addled fool pointed what appeared to almost every witness to be a gun at one of the officers. It was, just still in its holster. The officers opened fire.

So, no, they did not "approach with guns blazing." They responded with guns draw to a man, not just with a gun, but reportedly behaving crazily and having a gun. He pointed a gun at them. They exercised the exact same Right we all have, self-defense, and that is when the shooting started. Again, as much as you and others try to hold this shooting up as a bad shoot, the trier of fact, a coroner's jury, decided that the police did NOTHING wrong. The lesson to take away from this is that carry while under the influence (of an amount of mind-altering drugs that would kill most people) is not a good idea.

So, for a case of "Open carrier is just walking, no shirt with a cowboy hat. Cops approach with guns blazing," I am still waiting. Even if one thinks the above shoot is not a good one, it still does not come close to what one here asserted could happen to one of us OCers. This is as monumental a myth as the gun-grab or the they'll-just-shoot-you-first myths.

There is an entire thread on this in the Nevada forum, IIRC, with links to the daily transcripts. I won't rehash that argument here, even if 1245A tries to. I'll just doggedly repeat that folks should read the transcripts of the hearing by the triers of fact.
