    Hass kicked out

Lori Hass was kicked out of the Senate for the hollering out during session. here are the details

i like Philip Van Cleave's version better:

    [SNIP]
The raw emotion of the background check amendment defeat played out in the Senate gallery just after Vice President Biden read the vote count in his capacity as Senate president.

“Shame on you!” at least two women were heard shouting.

As they were escorted from the Capitol, Patricia Maisch and Lori Haas said they shouted in anger. Maisch successfully knocked a large ammunition magazine out of the hands of Jared Loughner in Jan. 2011 after he shot former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) and other bystanders.

“They are an embarrassment to this country, that they don’t have any compassion or care for people who have been taken brutally from their families,” Maisch said as officers attempted to remove her from the building. “I HATE THEM,” she said of the senators. [PVC: So because a person has a tragedy, the rest of us are monsters if we don't give up our rights over it? Who's the one being unreasonable here?]

“We’re sick and tired of the death in this country and these legislators stand up there and think it’s a bunch of numbers,” said Haas, whose daughter, Emily, was wounded in the April 2007 shooting at Virginia Tech.

“It’s a shame, it’s appalling, it’s disgusting,” she added. [PVC: Was Lori referring to her behavior in the gallery?]

i have asked Lori if she would have liked someone like me between her daughter and the shooter. she has yet to answer

While we all realize the gun laws are messed up (at least most of us do), the guilt trip and public shaming of Congress is exactly why we don't need to create more laws. It's still being driven by emotion rather than facts and law. While it's a long road to get our freedoms back, those Congresspeople that stood against the emotional tide and voted no, that was the brave and right thing to do. It might be a naive and idealistic statement, but standing up for the Constitution in face of public opposition can't be easy when you've resigned yourself to compromising party politics.

And sadly, the price of freedom is the actions of a few nutbags every once and a while.

If I was in D.C., I would have been escorted out as well. I have no qualms with shouting down Feinstein, et.al. on their misrepresentation of facts and capitalization on the public's ignorance.

    meh.

This is just another illustration that the anti position is based purely on emotion and not at all on ration. Let 'em have their tantrums.

I love how the POTUS vilifies the action of gun owners contacting their representative in opposition of this bill, saying
"...this pattern of spreading untruths about this legislation served a purpose, because those lies upset an intense minority of gun owners, and that in turn intimidated a lot of senators."
    and,
"It came down to politics ó the worry that that vocal minority of gun owners would come after them in future elections."
yet at the end of his speach, what does he say to those FOR this squashed bill?
"...you need to let your representatives in Congress know that you are disappointed, and that if they donít act this time, you will remember come election time."

    In other words,

Obama: Those crazy, gun nuts scared all of the senators with their evil, black, death machines! That's why this bill didnt pass!

The law has no compassion ... and to Maisch: you cannot protect the world this way. Improve the economy, get people back to work ....

    Ya cannot legislate crazy.

And Lori is a bad mommy....not teaching her daughter how to protect herself
