While we all realize the gun laws are messed up (at least most of us do), the guilt trip and public shaming of Congress is exactly why we don't need to create more laws. It's still being driven by emotion rather than facts and law. While it's a long road to get our freedoms back, those Congresspeople that stood against the emotional tide and voted no, that was the brave and right thing to do. It might be a naive and idealistic statement, but standing up for the Constitution in face of public opposition can't be easy when you've resigned yourself to compromising party politics.
And sadly, the price of freedom is the actions of a few nutbags every once and a while.
If I was in D.C., I would have been escorted out as well. I have no qualms with shouting down Feinstein, et.al. on their misrepresentation of facts and capitalization on the public's ignorance.
