The new proposed Concealed Carry bill for Illinois is now available for discussion and passage. Its long (46 pages) and I haven't read every word, but I did scan through it. A lot of it reads like Ky's law, but there are many more restriction on where you can't carry. Open carry is specifically covered, as is preemption (screw Chicago). Non-resident licenses are available. I don't know about reciprocity. I didn't see it mentioned, but didn't read it in detail. Local police and sheriffs can add concerns to your application if they want to, but it says "shall issue". Chicago may object to all of them from that city.
Read it, discuss it and lets learn together. Remember, this hasn't been passed yet, just proposed.
Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves.
"If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you; May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."
So the whole state would have preemption? Wonder if the city of Chicago is going crazy? I sure hope so.
“The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” Edmund Burke
1. Protection of oneself from harm or destruction.
2. The instinct for individual preservation; the innate desire to stay alive.
Another zillion page bill? I'll have to read it but it should be just one sentence:
Go ahead, carry as you wish, you are not in Russia
