Gun crime has plunged, but Americans think it's up, says study. LA Times

Yet few Americans are aware of the dramatic drop, and more than half believe gun crime has risen, according to a newly released survey by the Pew Research Center. http://www.latimes.com/news/nation/n...,3022693.story

No surprise there, research constantly shows those who watch mainstream media outlets are ignorant to the world around them. The sooner people stop watching the news the better.

What outlet do you watch in Alabama? I do not have a television receiver.

I have visited in Fairhope, Baldwin County, Dauphin Island, and Fort Gaines.

This is pretty big, and I hope it gets out more, so people are more aware of the real statistics.

I actually heard about this earlier today on WETA FM.

The fact that they aired it suprises me for two reasons: 1. It's a public radio station and 2. It's based in the very anti-2A District of Columbia. I listen to it via the internet - it's a good classical radio station.

I don't watch any station for any news. I've been a part of the news, and so has members of BamaCarry and the distort the truth to obtain a better story. That's local news, I wouldn't recommend anyone ever watching national news for any reason whatsoever. Nothing good could come out of it.

This is the power of a 24/7 news cycle set to full propaganda mode.

John R. Lott on Crime drops, but Americans think that it has been rising?

For someone deeply involved in the data, it can be surprising to see the gap between what is happening and people's perceptions. Surely the media has a big effect.

Let's not ignore the fact that this story is being reported from the LA Times which was, as of the last time I checked, part of the liberal mainstream media.

They are a legitimate source of information. Responsible people just verify everything that they say. Sheep just accept it all.
