Rock of Vegas Concerts on Fremont Street (LV)

I went downtown last weekend to see one of the many free concerts scheduled for the summer at the Fremont Street Experience. When I got there, I noticed a larger security presence than usual (contract security in addition to FSE security) and the metal crowd control gates surrounding the front of the stage with 3 openings to enter that area. They usually do this to keep the crowd watching the show corralled and to allow for a walkway around the crowd. When I entered the corralled area, I noticed a table with plastic cups, a group of 4 or 5 security guards and a sign. The sign said "No glass bottles, No weapons." As I was ccwing, I walked past the sign unnoticed but I could see how an OC-er would have difficulty.

I thought the ACLU already fought the battle regarding free speech on Fremont Street and the city lost bad. Do they really want to set up for another civil rights battle?

If the concert was taking place on ground which had been leased (and which was thus access-controlled by the sponsor), that's how they can get away with it.

Thats very interesting....i didnt see any signage when i was there for the country concerts on fremont. I OC'd in-the-waistband because i was afraid of gun grabs and what not. I didnt have any problems whatsoever with security. Metro was there in a large amount of numbers too.
