Relayed from one of our Facebook group members. I thought he handled it pretty well. Here is his version of the conversation.

"Ok, it went something like this...
CPSD (Cal. Parish Sheriffs Deputy)..."Sir, can we talk about that pistol"
Me, " Sure Deputy, It's a Glock Model 34, the Practical/Tactical model, fires a 9MM round from a detachable magazine, lots of folks use them ........"
CPSD...."No no, why are you carrying it?"
Me..."Well sir, for the same reason you are"
CPSD..."But I'm a cop"
Me..."Yes, and I'm a citizen and I have as much right to protect myself as you do"
CPSD...."But you can't carry a gun with out a permit"
Me...."Yes I can, as long as it's not concealed I don't need a permit"
CPSD..."Your wrong and I can arrest you"
Me...."No Sir, your wrong and you should call a superior and check this out before we have a situation that requires Lawyers"

He excuses himself to use the radio in his car, but I watch him make a call on his cell phone, then he gives me a funny look, shakes his head and drives off."

Doesn't sound like the officer was too happy about being wrong, but I guess to be fair, nobody likes being wrong. I guess it is also possible he was a transplant from another state or maybe he was just a rookie. Regardless, it sounds like a win for OC. Officer was educated. OC guy gets to go about his business.

A great encounter and hopefully the deputy learned something and passes the something forward to his colleagues to learn.
Best regards.

...CPSD..."Your wrong and I can arrest you"...
Your = possessive form of YOU
You're = You are

Is there some sort of disease going around? I've noticed a lot of this lately. :confused:

While we're on the subject:
its = possessive form of IT
it's = it is
