Part of this is interesting, they claim your entire conciense can be uploaded to a digital network, giving you "Digital immortality" (so long as the network remains active I guess)
will this happen? frankly I hope not, and I think he's being extreme about the actual capabilities of doing this. but raises interesting questions. for instance if this happens, would it prove religions wrong as your death could still result in your continued existance? on that note, can government or big companies become a new sort of religion, that is you are good and they allow your mind to be "uploaded" into a heaven type scenario, or simply allow you to die off or be uploaded into a "purgatory" state? could it be the digital realization of the "white and black lodge" mythology of the early 90s hit TV shot Twin Peaks?
Scary and yet exciting at the same time, but in the end I would hope this project fails....
In just over 30 years, humans will be able to upload their entire minds to computers and become digitally immortal - an event called singularity - according to a futurist from Google.
Ray Kurzweil, director of engineering at Google, also claims that the biological parts of our body will be replaced with mechanical parts and this could happen as early as 2100.
Kurweil made the claims during his conference speech at the Global Futures 2045 International Congress in New York at the weekend.
