    According to http://www.johnballzoosociety.org/about.php
The John Ball Zoological Garden is owned and operated by the County of Kent.

MCL 123.1102 and CADL vs. MOC, the zoo would be pre-empted.

Friendly or not, they have no choice in the matter.

Legally you are allowed. There was an MOC picnic there last September. http://forums.michiganopencarry.org/....html#msg15660

Other than a snide comment in the reptile house (how appropriate?) it was an uneventful event.

I was there a few weeks ago OCing with a shoulder holster. no comments at all.
    My reasons to OC
    1. to raise awareness of the legality of open carry in Michigan
    2. To raise awareness that good people carry guns
    3. A deterrent to people so that I won't be targeted
    4. Because it's more comfortable than CC in most situations
    5. Because I can and want to
    6. Because it's perfectly legal
    7. Self defense
