I'm new to carrying and looking for answers. Does the GWCL cover both open and concealed carry? I've read the codes and as I understand it, the GWCL covers both. I ask this because a friend of mine was OC'g and was told he could not unless he had a permit. I'm pretty sure he has a GWCL and he was told an "unconcealed permit" in GA would cost him 15 dollars. Now I'm still trying to get the specifics from him as I was told this by his girlfriend. I think they are getting bs'd but thought I would research it and hopefully get some straight answers. Thanks!

The Georgia Weapons Carry License (GWCL or GWL) allows the licensee to carry either openly or concealed as the situation warrants. There is no "unconcealed carry" permit. Some people have been confused because "O.C.G.A. § 16-11-128, Carrying pistol without license" was repealed by the GA legislature. The requirement to possess a license is now in 16-11-129.

Thanks guys. I've read through all that and had come to that determination but there's no telling what state and local governments will do nowadays to raise revenue, lol. I pass the information along to my friend so he can read it for himself. He just got bs'd by someone.
