Info about Chincoteague and Assateague Island

My wife wants to make a weekend trip to Chincoteague and Assateague Island. We have never been there and needing some info.
What places are off limits for oc/cc?
What is worth going to see?
What places should be avoided?

Assateague Island National Seashore is operated by the National Park Service so all buildings where Park Service employees work are off limits. Chincoteague I don't know much about, I don't go there often. Public areas should not be a problem though.

Hey Doc - weather wise your timing his good. You know the routine on NPS facilites (buildings) & National Wildlife Refuges = in accordance with federal, state and local firearms laws. With most of this in Virginia, you are good to go.

What to avoid: Maryland
The northern portion of Assateague Island is in Maryland, the southern portion is in Virginia.

Thanks for the info. Bad news is I've been informed that the so-called powers that be, all leave has been cancelled until further notice (again). Looks like I'm not going to make it to Saturday morning breakfast either.

Chincoteague is a National Wildlife Refuge (FWS), Assateague is a National Seashore (NPS), both are part of the DoI and are ok for carry IN VIRGINIA, except for the buildings as noted above in a previous post; remember that Assateague extends into MD - DON'T cross that line. What's worth seeing depends on you; to me, you see one pony, you've seen all of them. Avoid MD and avoid the NASA Wallops Island facility while carrying (Federal Facility).
