"The man does have a valid concealed carry permit, officials said. The incident is being reviewed by the Dane County district attorney's office."

Courthouses in Wisconsin are one of the No Carry Zones.

Here is the part of the statute: https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/sta...utes/175/60/16

    175.60(16) Prohibited activity.

175.60(16)(a) Except as provided in par. (b), neither a licensee nor an out-of-state licensee may knowingly carry a concealed weapon, a weapon that is not concealed, or a firearm that is not a weapon in any of the following places:

    ...

175.60(16)(a)6. Any portion of a building that is a county, state, or federal courthouse.

    From the article:
who said he knew it was wrong to bring the gun to the courthouse but had forgotten it was in the backpack.

I am sick of this feces. This happens at airports all the time, too. "I forgot it was in there".

I own numerous firearms and at ANY given moment I know EXACTLY where they are. Forgetting you have a gun in a bag is grossly irresponsible!

...and in what condition they are; all loaded and chambered, SA's cocked and locked and DA's hammer down with safety off.

Well, using the example from that Senator's aide the other day (who "accidentally" carried into the federal courthouse in - IIRC - Detroit), this person will be just fine. No charges, no confiscation of property.

I agree that the "I forgot" excuse is lame, & shouldn't be considered.
How can someone forget where their firearms are??
