Rick Ector, Mich. OC/CC advocate, versus Ignorance

Even though Mr Ector at first responds as if SYG law were at play in a recently televised trial concerning an event which had a very tragic ending, he does a great job of getting back to the facts and explaining the law for those who choose to believe that one should not defend oneself when under attack...

Giving up our liberties for safety is the one sure way to let the violent among us win.

"Though defensive violence will always be a 'sad necessity' in the eyes of men of principle, it would be still more unfortunate if wrongdoers should dominate just men." -Saint Augustine

I've also been following Mr Ector's commentary throughout said trial, and he's been, as far as I can tell, a voice of reason where many choose to think with emotion.

Call for a cop, call for an ambulance, and call for a pizza. See who shows up first.

Amazing to me how they see Trayvon as a small kid who was shot for no reason. The term "disparity of force" comes to mind. You can't punch someone in the face then pound their head into concrete. You don't need a weapon to kill someone.

"No state shall convert a liberty to a privilege, license it, and charge a fee therefor.- Murdock vs Pennsylvania 319 US 105

...If the state converts a right into a privelege, the citizen can ignore the license and fee and engage in the right... with impunity.
    - Shuttleworth vs City of Birmingham, Alabama 317 US 262

Where rights secured by the Constitution are involved, there can be no legislation which would abrogate them.
    - Miranda vs Arizona 384 US 436

For once we agree. Speaking of internal strife: I have to drop a huge Charlie Langton in the toilet!

This guy is a legend in his own mind. His complete bias & lack of knowledge of MI law in the Sean Combs case was enough to sour me on his OPINION for life! Puny little man reminds of this character:

reminds me of someone, just can't put my finger on who...
    My reasons to OC
    1. to raise awareness of the legality of open carry in Michigan
    2. To raise awareness that good people carry guns
    3. A deterrent to people so that I won't be targeted
    4. Because it's more comfortable than CC in most situations
    5. Because I can and want to
    6. Because it's perfectly legal
    7. Self defense
