St George vicinity this past weekend

I didn't see an on-going "How did it go" thread, so I'll just start this one.

I OC'd throughout my recent trip to Snow Canyon State Park. So the UT portion of that included a couple fuel stops in St George (Smith's on Bluff St). No issues here at all.

Walmart on Pioneer was interesting. Lot of looks. I don't think you guys are carrying enough there to get them used to it. I had my dog with me (he has "service animal" credentials on his harness). One guy asked me about the breed and while I was explaining the half-chihuahua/mini-pin he saw the big stainless .45 revolver. His jaw about hit the floor. I continued shopping.

Ace Hardware had no issues except for a long steady open-mouth stare from an old man in the parking lot. Maybe these people are from California. A lot of the license plates in the state park were. While I was OC in the state park there were no issues at all. I even saw a tree being re-supported in the wind by a couple rangers. They were OC while doing so, too.

I did not get a chance to make it to the other end of town to stop into Sportsman's Warehouse. I really want to see how they would react. The guys at the gun counter were wrongly telling people that all OC (even with a license) had to be unloaded the last time I was there. The manager didn't respond to my very nice letter about it.

EDIT: I forgot to include the awesome food (especially the green salsa) at Irmita's Mexican restaurant. She objected to the dog when I first got there, but after I explained it was a qualified service animal, she let it go. After that, she saw the gun, but it looked like she knew she would lose another objection so didn't bother to start one. Unfortunately, despite the awesome food, they do not serve beer...

I just started OC/CCing in the past year, but we vacation a lot in StG, and I carried nearly everywhere that we went the entire week. The only place that I didn't OC was to the theater there so I had to disarm since I didn't have my CFP, as I do now. But rest assured that I'll be carrying the next time that we stay in StG.

A right unexercised will become a right lost.

Open carry in St. George Utah

MAC702, Glad you were here in S.G. OC. I live here in this city and CC, Its the way i prefer to carry. Im glad you had a good experience while visiting. Please keep OC, it helps people get w/ the program of understanding about gun laws in this state and other states. And yes, Irmita's is good food.
