Shields, hammers, wrenches, "tools of violence and vandalism" to be banned in Oakland

"A proposal to ban hammers, wrenches, shields, sling shots, paint projectiles and other potentially destructive items at protests will be considered by the Oakland City Council at its meeting on Tuesday night. The ordinance prohibiting so-called “tools of violence and vandalism” during a demonstration is being proposed by Councilman Noel Gallo, who said in a letter to his colleagues that it’s designed to counter violence that occurred during recent protests against the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin in Florida."

Who said gun bans were not a slippery slope? First toy cap-guns, now tradesman's tools, next toys like baseballs and bats, then scythes and hay-forks. What does it say of an elect that is afraid to face its armed constituency?

Golly, that is equally as effective as banning handguns to prevent violence...

Seriously... have you looked into Great Britain's violent crime stats?

Unless they ban hands, feet, arms, legs, teeth, tongues, and heads there will always be weapons present. The problem is getting the fools to realize it is not the inanimate object but the person using it that is the problem. Seriously, the effective way to prevent violence at demonstrations is to ban people.

    stay safe.
