I come from a land downunder.
There have been more gang related shooting in Australia since the gun ban since federation? Criminals have been enabled and they know it. Despite Sydney's alarming gun crime statistics reaching 70 shootings for the year , with 12 in July alone, the acting boss of the police taskforce investigating the shootings has labelled offenders in the latest incidents as just "two-bit pretenders". While shots continue to ring out in Sydney's western suburbs, Detective Superintendent Scott Cook, acting boss of the shooting taskforce Operation Apollo, dismissed the latest offenders as "young hoodlums with firearms" who considered themselves "gangsters".

Now for some words of wizdom; "Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone reassured his residents the area was still "safe" but acknowledged shootings were not good for the community."

THE GOVERNMENT NOW STEPS IN!

(ps, this is not meant to be funny, this is not a joke. This is official advice drawn up by the Australian government for the people of Australia who have been dissarmed, and who, by law, cannot own or use firearms, mace, or any other weapon of any kind in self defence) But it seems we can legally throw things at criminals as a last resort?????

PEOPLE have been given a how-to guide to survive a mass shooting on Australian soil as brand new Federal guidelines warn the threat remains real and persistent.

Active Shooter Guidelines for places likely to be targeted by a terrorist or deranged person, including shopping centres, transport hubs, sporting venues and entertainment precincts, have been drawn up for the first time.

Firstly, people should leave all their belongings and evacuate if it's safe to do so, avoiding elevators and visualising their escape route before they flee.

If evacuation is not possible, people should hide somewhere where they can lock the door and block the door with heavy furniture.

Windows should be covered, lights turned off, and phones put on silent.

People should also come up with a plan for if they are discovered, with violence the best course.

"This can include using or throwing available objects or using aggressive force when confronted," it says.

"Such action should only be taken as a last resort and in order to protect the life of the individual or others in that area."

***********************************

How about re-arming Australia as it was before the John Howards gun steal back and allowing people to legally CC or OC and defend themselves? Throwing shoes, hand bags or dentures would achieve nothing, even if resorted to as a last resort? This governemnt is definately insane?

"This can include using or throwing available objects..."

You're supposed to use your firearm to throw small objects to stop the threat, as that's what they're designed to do. Oh well, right? Though, this entire situation is nothing but fantasy, because the criminals in Australia all turned in their weapons when asked. :banghead:
