Hi all, been a long time since I've been on this board. I'd even forgotten all about it until this afternoon. See, I almost never OC, save hunting season in the woods and the occasional overheated moment when I have to take off my sweater or whatever.
I was at Safeway this afternoon, the one at about 26th and North Pearl in Tacoma. There was one of those paid signature gatherers out front of the store, asking people to sign a petition to mandate "OMG full background checks on ALL gun purchases!". I know these guys are paid, as I talked to one in Olympia last week. As I went in, he tried to ask me to sign. Thanks, but no thanks. I conducted my normal business inside, and when I came back out, there was a younger man, white shirt and shorts, OC'ing, in an argument with the petition guy.
Now, I'm all for OC. As I stated above, I may not choose to do it, but I will defend anyone else's right to do so. I will also construct a logical, sensible, CALM argument with any antis who want to preach infringement.
That being said, the OC'er in question should just SHUT UP and WALK AWAY next time. I do not know what transpired prior to my arrival, but I do know how you reacted was wrong. The sheeple out there who vote gun grabbers in and keep them there choose people exactly like you to reflect upon when conversing about firearms rights.
A calm, polite, rational conversation is the way to handle someone like petition boy and the two elderly women who were there as well.
Storming across the parking lot, screaming at the top of your lungs is not...Especially when the person you're yelling at is just standing there, shocked, watching you rant at the top of your lungs as you stalk away.
If you read this and wish to defend your actions, please feel free.
If not, then next time you're in a situation like this, try using your head first, and not screaming things like (actual quotes):
"Educate yourself before you sell people your BULLS**T next time, you fu**ing idiot"
and
"Enjoy your FEMA camp next year!"
Is that REALLY the way you want gun owners represented?
