Come meet national gun rights leaders and your fellow grassroots activists at the 28th Annual Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC 2013) in Houston, TX at the Marriott Hotel Houston, TX Airport hotel on September 27, 28, & 29, 2013. This is your once-a-year chance to network, get an insider's look and plan pro-gun rights strategies for the coming year.

This year we'll take a look at critical issues such as: bans on semi-auto guns and magazines, "smart" guns, concealed carry, federal legislation, BATFE policies, gun show regulation, state and local activity and the most recent Right to Keep and Bear Arms court cases.

Tartaro, Eugene Volokh, Wayne LaPierre, Michael Reagan, Larry Elder, Bob Barr, John Lott, Sandy Froman, Massad Ayoob, Tom Gresham, Alan Gura, G. Just in case anybody missed it, I'll restate the obvious - there is absolutely no money in open carrying. Nobody has figured out how to get people to show up and listen to stuff, and then take a test on that stuff, in order to not need to turn in a copy of their attendance certificate in order to not get a permission slip.
It's that last part that's important - selling something so that the buyer can then buy something else the state claims a monopoly on. Create a guild system that controls access to open carrying and these national organizations will be right on top of it - trying to figure out how they can make a buck out of it.
The only folks who seem to have figured out how to make a buck out of OCing are those who provide legal/practical/fantasy courses in what to do after a shooting incident and/or how to increase your odds of not winding up being found guilty or civially liable. And it seems the pool of folks interested in signing up for that is way less than the pool of folks who want to learn how to shoot like the big kids and wear the same clothes as the big kids.
That being said, there are groups that go to this with an agenda of bringing OC to the yearning masses. Contact the grass roots and mainstream gun rights operating in your area. Ask them if they are going, and what they will be doing to make OC as acceptable as CC. If they don't have a plan already in place, be ready to help them build one - or to go and lobby for OC since they won't.
And be prepared to deal with the fact that there are a lot of other RKBA issues already being worked on that lots of other folks have said are more important/urgent than bringing OC to those yearning masses.

This will be a hands on sharing of information, contacts and tactics event. See lots of strong possibilities.
The last one was held in Orlando, Fl.

Dear GRPC Attendee,
The 28th annual Gun Rights Policy Conference (GRPC) Sept. 27, 28, and 29, in Houston Texas features an expansive lineup of key Second Amendment activists and leaders like Alan Gottlieb,
Joe Tartaro, Alan Gura, Larry Pratt, John Fund, John Lott, Dave Kopel, Joe Tartaro, and Rep. Steve Stockmam
You’ll get the inside scoop from the leaders in the gun rights movement, then what?
This is a critical time to get involved to fight the anti-gunners. Our opponents are well organized and very well-funded. We have to have a game plan and can’t let our guard down.
You can make a difference on both a local and national level. But where exactly should you start?
To increase the knowledge, ability, and effectiveness of pro-gun grassroots activists, the Second Amendment Foundation and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms
have partnered with the Leadership Institute to offer an exclusive pro-gun activism course specifically tailored to gun rights supporters that want to make a difference.
This training and grassroots workshop will take place after the closing remarks of the 28th Annual Gun Rights Policy Conference. The workshop will start at 1:30 p.m. and continue until 4:00 p.m.
We need to know if you plan on attending this additional FREE workshop. Simply send a reply e-mail to this message from Jessica.Brown@liberty.seanet.com

You did slide on to mentioning that it is the paper permission slip for which money is to be made that is the driving factor. However, in some States, that piece of paper is either needed to OC in public or needed to make OC practical (carry in one's car, carry through GFSZ, etc.). It is not really promotion of CC that is the problem. It is the promotion of LC. Most people seem to see the two as the same, probably because the whole idea of CC was created to try to make all C to be LC.
In Ohio, I proposed that we form a group as a counter to OFCC (Ohioans for Concealed Carry), which does promote OC to a small extent, but still focuses on the privilege of LC, and call it Ohioans for Unlicensed Carry. For some reason, folks poo-pooed the idea for OFUC. I don't get it.
Every one of us should have as a goal the restoration of uninfringed unlicensed carry. UC is what the 2A guarantees.
