On my way to the OC fest at the Morrow County Fair earlier this week, I needed to stop by my credit union. Usually, I go to the branch on base. However, as I was packin', it would be a violation of base regulations (and federal law) for me to go on base. So, for the first time, I went to an off-base branch. It would be silly to post a gun-buster sign on base, so they don't. Therefore, I never knew that Wright-Patt credit union will not allow me to both exercise my 2A Right and bank inside their buildings at the same time.
I know now. The off-base branch had a big-assed gun-buster sign on the door.
I almost did not make the meetup prior to the OC-at-the-Fair because I chose to spend an extra 20 minutes or so making the case to the branch manager for the credit union to respect our Rights on their property. She was totally blank throughout the convo. If there was a mind behind her eyes, I could not tell. I asked for a formal reply from either the CEO or the board of directors. I told her that if I did not get a reply within two weeks, or if a timely reply was that the no-guns policy stands, I would immediately withdraw my funds in favor of a Rights-neutral bank.
Chuck suggested Chase. I also want to check out Security National as I have a very wallet-friendly mortgage with them that was NOT farmed out to Fannie or Freddie. I don't know Security National's take on the RKBA.
So far, no word from WPFCU.
If they remain Rights-unfriendly, I recommend that all Liberty-lovers who are members withdraw their money. I am going to keep my share account with the minimum five dollars so I can attend meetings and keep the issue in front of the board.
