I'm rather skeptical about the efficacy of online petitions. According to the Columbus Dispatch, the anti-203 folks collected real signatures.

Ditto. Real petitions are much harder to fake than online. Also, IMO, a petition at this stage is pointless. If you want it passed, a call or email directly to your representative is much better. It shows that you care enough to research how to contact them and let them know you support it.

Also, the real key is going to come when it passes and they get the required signatures to put it on the ballot, which I believe they can easily do. Think about it, they got 10k real signatures with no purpose at this stage. Imagine what they can do when there's a purpose.
