FL - Open Carry for Firearm Manufacturer

Hello Ladies and Gents,

I have a fairly simple question - I realize that open carry in FL is allowed on private property, and I am happy about that. I am starting a firearms manufacturing business and have a concealed license, but for comforts sake, would prefer to wear my firearm OWB during the work day.

My business has two buildings surrounded by a chain link fence. One building is administrative, the other is manufacturing. I oftentimes have to walk between the two. I know that I can openly carry inside of either of these buildings, but I am concerned about the legality of carrying between these buildings. I would be in plain sight of other people driving on the road or at neighboring businesses. I would never be actually leaving my fenced in business property while carrying openly.

Admit that I am a little troubled by your question in that I would think a firearms manufacturer would be a bit more up to date on the basic laws of their own state.

Short answer: Yes you can OC on your own private property - inside or outside.

No where have I seen a restriction or requirement to conceal when on private property in the Florida statutes.

To give some context, my husband is the firearms expert and I mainly do inventory and supply work. He assured me open carry was legal in this instance but I figured that it was my personal responsibility to make sure I wasn't risking breaking the law.

I worried that private property was confined to areas that could be deemed private and not in public view.

Point of clarification: You cannot open carry (or conceal without a CWFL) on your private property, unless it is your home, or place of business. 790.25(3)

Also 790.25(3)(i) allows "A person engaged in the business of manufacturing, repairing, or dealing in firearms, or the agent or representative of any such person while engaged in the lawful course of such business" to open carry or carry concealed without requiring a CWFL.
