I'm all for open carry, but I think we should be allowed to own firearms for self-defense in our homes first.

Personally, I don't think it will ever happen. The general public are too trusting in the police's ability to protect them. In a country where the majority of police officers cannot take their firearms home; civilian carry is too far-fetched.

Don't get me wrong, the police do a great job, but they can't be everywhere. What's that saying? "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away."
