‘Come and Take It San Antonio!’ gun rights rally to kick off at the Alamo.

"Some are asking whether a pro-gun group has gone too far in extolling firearms rights, a feat considered near impossible in Texas. And whether a politician may have been too willing to accommodate them."

I hope that they do not get hassled and charged with disorderly conduct.

McALLEN, Texas — This is how to make another gun rally in gun-friendly Texas stand out: Tell everybody to bring their rifles and shotguns to the Alamo, the state’s most popular attraction, which sits downtown in the country’s seventh-largest city. And be sure to invite the state’s gun-friendliest politician, who also happens to hold the keys to the historic site.

Notice how the term "gun-friendly Texas" is coming from a Washington, DC, paper?

Those of us in freer states do not consider Texas to be all that gun friendly.

I don't consider it friendly to be told: "Well, we'll let you apply for permission to bear arms (don't worry, we will give it to you after the paperwork, fingerprints, and fees), but you'd better not ever let us see it."

Live WebCam of Alamo Open Carry Today (ongoing next hour and 10 minutes)

The Web cam at the link shows the open carry event going on now. There is a pretty good crowd, but my browser is only showing an image about every half a second, I would say.

    Here is the link:

Alamo Open Carry Live Web Cam Link

I can hear some noise in the background, but I cannot make out the words.

Lots of Gadsten flags and a "Come and Take It" Gonzales flag.

The crowd looks well over a thousand to me. It extends beyond the frame of the camera.

Good for TX. They are slow but they are trying.

Armed gun-rights activists rally at the alamo

    More at link:

ARMED GUN-RIGHTS ACTIVISTS RALLY AT THE ALAMO
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Several hundred gun-rights activists armed with rifles and shotguns rallied outside the Alamo Saturday in a demonstration that broke a longstanding tradition of not staging such events at the enduring symbol of Texas independence.

Organizers called the “Come and Take It San Antonio!” rally after a confrontation two months ago in which San Antonio police threatened to arrest several gun-rights activists who were carrying their rifles outside of a Starbucks. They oppose a local ordinance that they say impinges on gun rights.

There are now four Alamo rally themed threads. Search is your friend if you can't keep up with topics current. Glenn Beck is a hysteric Limbaugh wannabe.

SORRY if I missed the threads. I looked where I thought it should be - Forum: News & Political Alerts - back to about the 10th of the month. If I missed it, I sincerely apologize for the extra thread.

As to your comment about Beck, SEEMS a bit OT would you not agree...in this thread? If you want to start a thread about the news gathering reliability of the Blaze, by all means do so. I will contribute if I see it.

I see that our police hied McManus made the ridiculous statement that the two men arrested for shooting at the Policeman and causing fragments of his computer to hit him in the eye were in some way related to the Open Carry rally at the Alamo. Does he have any evidence for this statement? Any proof of the accusations? Another great example of the police chief in a city making asinine statements about citizens carrying openly. Is this something we need to keep track off?

That incident/event which occurred in Texas has been covered elsewhere on this forum.
