Casino's

In East Wenatchee there is a Buzz-in that is also a Casino.
On the entrance to the Casino part there is a sign saying " No Firearms On These Premises"
On the same sign it quote RCW 9.41.300 (D)
The RCW is for 21 and over. You can go into the casino and gamble if you are 18.
They are using this sign to mislead people that they cannot carry concealed.
I have searched the RCW's and can find nothing about firearms in casino's as I figured I would not.
I want to send a letter to get the sign removed but I not sure who to send it to.
I am also not sure what to say in the letter. I know there are better letter writers on here than me,
so can someone help me out.

Thanks

Just don't eat there.

I can find no law prohibiting carry in a casino. It's up to each business to make their policies however misleading the public should be against law.

For many states, it's against having commission rules to allow firearms on the premises. I work for a NY casino as a guard, they will not how me as an armed officer because of the gaming commission rules. YMMV.

Because tribes possess*tribal sovereignty, even though it is limited, laws on tribal lands vary from the surrounding area.

If the casino is on tribal lands, as I think most in Washington are, they can make and enforce their own laws. I would be careful carrying on indian casinos.

If the casino is designated off limits to those under 21 by the Liquor Control Board, then carry is illegal. I don't think that includes just bars - I think it includes ANY place designated as off limits to those under 21.

It is not on Tribal land. It says no one under 18 allowed.

You cannot be charged with 9.41.300 if it is not designated by the WLCB to be off limits to those under 21.

you can however be charged with criminal trespass if you enter or remail unlawfully on a premises. since it's a private business I wouldn't bother with writing letters. you can try carrying there anyway but if anyone asks you to leave for any reason be right out the door.

If they are citing 9.41.300 (D), aren't they basically stating that the entire building is 21+ only? If they let in 18-20 year olds, they'd be the ones in violation...

So why not report them for it?

That is IF they ask you to leave or to not carry there.

I carry at the Yakama Nation Legends Casino everytime I go there. Most of the time, but not all the time concealed. I've gone there with a 92 hanging out, security doesn't even look twice. There's no signs about weapons. I figure they know being it's Yakima County one out of every three or four customers has a gun anyway, and that's a lot of business they'd turn away.

lucky eagle casino

My buddy is a security officer at the lucky eagle casino. He is an OC'er but told me that it is a federal crime to carry a firearm into any part of the casino. I do not have anyway to cite this. Just somethig I was told. Entering a reservation is like entering another country. They can pretty much make up their own rules.

I don't recall any casinos allowing carry ... losing gamblers can get a little pissed off...

People should be able to carry in any place the public owns or is invited to enter.

First off, Do not write or talk to them about removing the signage, they have every right to post it and will only make you look silly and ignorant.

Asking a Security Officer a Legal Question is like asking a Barista in a bikini to do brain surgery, don't do it.

I would not assume that an Indian Casino is not on Reservation Land and a prime example is the Reservation of the Yakama Nation encompasses parts of Wapato and Toppenish which is governed by their respective city councils and not the tribe.

I agree ... but if you do, be as drunk and loud as you can. Why not? They'll be talking about the encounter for years.

Is the casino off-limit to those under 21 at any point during the day? NO, carry on.

If they are using the Liquor Control Board sign as a deterrent then the LCB would like to know and correct the issue.

The casino does not fall under federal rules for weapons.
