I'll be in vegas again for the Marine Corps ball last year I open carried but I had a duty 9mm and didnt get any heat since i was in uniform however this year I wont be (guard that is still putting on them blues) Since ill be traveling from out of state from what i've researched so far im able to travel condition 1 in plain view and able to oc since i fall under the 60 day non resident. If im leaving the casino am i okay to carry out? As far as getting heat from metro i dont really care ive shoved my liberties and rights afforded to me down many throats and have told many incompetent police officers to find some high ground and train their brains on laws. Just want a clear, cut and dry view on oc policies. Barney style stupid simple.

Thank you in advance

OC in Nevada and Clark County's handgun registration requirement have little to do with each other. Yes, you, in the situation you described won't have to have your handgun registered in Clark County per the requirements of the county ordinance. However, the handgun will have to be otherwise "legal." On private property, you will be susceptible to Nevada's trespass statute(s). If the owner of the private property or agents thereof ask you to "leave," then you are pretty much required to respect their wishes. If you protest, they will probably engage their private security forces or call the cops or both. While OCing on public property... public streets, sidewalks, etc., there can be no "trespass." Now, having said all that, never underestimate what the cops will do, not matter the law.

Wait, why were you open carrying while in uniform?

As far as open carrying downtown, you won't have any problems on the street but goodluck finding a business that will accept your presence. If you are there to have a good time, just leave your handgun locked up. This is coming from a guy who OC's downtown on a regular basis.

A better question is "Why not?"

As far as openly carrying downtown, I don't get out much, but one of those times, several of us enjoyed the street shows on the Freemont Street Experience (public property) and we also had mediocre food at the Heart Attack Grill, a private business that had no problem with us whatsoever. In fact, they were pretty cool about it. I'll agree that many businesses in that area that cater to tourists may have different policies. Do you have specifics on which?

I leave my sidearm at my side to ensure that I'm the one that gets to have a "good time."

As for hotels, if you are a registered guest, you probably have rights of passage, though I do not know those laws. They may be worth checking out if they affect you.

I have been in most of the downtown business with little or no contact. The MC Donald's in the Four Queens, and trips upstairs and all the way to the back where the bathrooms are located. The buffet at the Fitzgerald, the cafe in the Golden Gate, Etc. Etc. Etc. I think Doc Red owes us some specifics. Not just a Generalized "Buzz Kil,." accompanied with a "lock it up command." Hey Doc, why such disdain with Liberty?

Lets have a strip event, or a Fremont street walk.... We are overdue for one, and sharpshooter had mentioned he would like to attend. I would like to extend a invitation to Doc Red to attend, he may offer some valuable insight. Pick a Saturday evening sharpshooter, I will stroll with you!

Which businesses had issues with OC?

You stated that someone "just leave your handgun locked up"...this is an "OPEN CARRY FORUM". You stating that someone lock up their weapon for (maybe)the appeasement of the masses is counter to what we in the forum are trying to espouse. Why would you advice someone to lock it up? Your discomfort and perception of inconvenience is entirely yours. Please do not project that onto others.

I am down, in my experience if have never been bothered while on the street/sidewalk, on previous events did you encounter any problems inside the establishments. I have been asked to leave on a few occasions.

Typically when people go to Fremont they try to avoid being removed from privately owned businesses.... It seems as if OP is on a visiting basis. I gave nothing more than honest advice.

I can see no reason anyone should ever lock up their protection...

The only reason I can see someone being willing to do that is if their reason for carry is based on something other than protection...like maybe they do it to feel cool, to make a statement etc...

It's OPEN CARRY night!

Hello everyone...SharpShootur here!

LOL! (My customary greeting just for you Turbod'1) I've been sorting things at work, please excuse my absence. I just signed on today and noticed this tread. I thought "hey this sounds fantastic!" Read the thread and found my name being dropped on a WAY COOL idea! DTOM (i.e. Don't Tread On Me) has alluded to an open carry event. In fact, he has also invited DocRed. Since this is such an auspicious occasion and that open carry on The Strip/Freemont Street Experience is long overdue, I'm game!

DTOM and DocRed, how would you guys like to accompany me for an open carry on November 16th at 5:00 p.m. We can all meet up at the El Cortez! We can meet up in front of the Subway restaurant doors (located on Ogden). Parking in the garage there is free. That's right people, you heard me FREE (cost you zip, zero, nada!). Once you've parked in the FREE parking garage, simply use the pedestrian crosswalk to cross over to the south side of the street. Head west (or head towards your right once you've crossed the street) and you'll find the Subway.

OF COURSE THIS INVITATION GOES OUT TO ALL OPEN CARRIERS! I'll take the lead and ask those that wish to attend to please RSVP to my inbox. If your unable to attend at that specified time, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Accommodations can be made. It would be nice to have a number of groups at different times to join. If you know other OCers, PLEASE inform them of this event! :D

Fantastic! Looks like things are underway for the Open Carry night. Happy Birthday to all the Marines out there! November 10, 1775...238 years! Hoorah! I read your post DevilDogDiesel0311. That's great that your interested in the event. Just a reminder that the 16th is a Saturday. On Wednesday through Friday at the times you specified, it's unfortunate that I'm working at those times. Is there anyone here on this blog that is available during the time that DDD0311 is available?

DocRed I'm looking forward to seeing you that evening! :D

Don't Tread On Me I'm looking forward to seeing you as well! :D

there is a corporal of the guard and sgt of the guard. its a really dumb way of saying chief of security and his side kick. It was for the Marine Corps ball.

Nice, that makes sense, I understand, I forget that they have the balls here. What unit are you with? I was a corpsman with 3/9 and 2/6. Got out this past December.
