Our population is 3.59 million, but after you take out the ages 1-21, it is approximately 2.65 million. When we exclude convicted felons, we get down to around 2.5 million people. Subtract an estimated 54,000 illegal immigrants and we have about 2.45 million eligible people. Of course, this is not perfect or complete, the number has to be much smaller, probably more near 2 million when we factor in misdemeanors and drug possession disqualifiers, and there is no way to factor in the arbitrary 'suitability' criteria of the state. This leaves us with a confident 8% - 10% of the population has a pistol permit in Connecticut. That means 1 in 10 people in Connecticut, who are eligible have their pistol permits. That is very significant.
