The complete and utter truth can be challenged from every direction and it will always hold up. Accordingly there are few greater displays of illegitimacy than to attempt to impede free thought and communication.

Wow - some cops are bummed tonight! Hey SLM call Hi-Point @ 419-747-9444 and tell them you are having (FTF / FTE etc...) issues. Send the carbine and all the mags in. You will get back a refurbed gun & possibly all new mags + a free mag to cover your shipping. So in the end you'll have $120 invested in a pretty decent plinker. I have the 45 & 40 cal carbines & they are well worth every penny in my book.

I don't say this often...I'm jealous. I've been thinking of either the Hi Point carbine or one of the Kel-Tec sub 2000s for a "just because" gun. Haven't seen any around here for sale; that price is unbelievable, too.

I have both.! The sub2000 are very hard to find (have been for years) they are great for travel and fold to fit in a small gym bag. The sights SUCK & there is no last round hold open. If you do get one always check the front plastic post to make sure it has not moved up or down. The HP carbines have better steel sights, but you can't run stick mags - however pro-mag makes the HPA4 & A5 mags to fit the 45 (14rd) & 40 (15rd) both work well in my experience.

There is another way to get a similar result. New slide, threaded barrel, tack weld an extension on it for ATF barrel length compliance. The new slide is important, because the barrel and extension are now permanently stuck unless they are cut apart. Add a quick detach stock and happy sticks. All set.

The LEO said [Canadianvoice]"I sees your little camera."[Canadianvoice/]

So according to that LEO no one should never be in public because there could be a "knucklehead" and that LEO will have to shoot you.

Wow! Talk about losing composure. That cop was about to have a stroke. So if they are so terrified of a "knuckle-hood-head" attacking them, why have these gun rip-offs in the first place?

Well done guys. The truth is - they wanted you guys as far away from their "paid political event" as possible. These guys get paid to swindle litte old ladies & little old men out of their protection. GANG BANGERS do not attend these events!

Considering how many cities are without funds in that area, I really wonder who is handing out the cash? If it was the police Union or other PRIVATE group that is using the image of it being a public service buy in then there maybe a legal problem (maybe as I don't remember Michigan law on officers in uniform and misrepresentation to the public). Anyway the officer is way out of line and not a bit of legal authority with the crap he is trying. Now having someone on that side of the sidewalk without a firearm offering to buy and asking folks to step across the street would have removed the "weapons" issue and still had some able to directly make contact with the possible sellers.

Just my two cents and look forward to supporting these once we get back to Michigan. -Michael

I'm not 100% certain, but I believe the funding may have been sponsored. I will see if Rick knows. And yes, he never actually gave a clear order to go somewhere else. If you notice, he made a lot of suggestions like "we WANT you over there." Ultimately, the place they had us stand was far better because we could intercept cars on their way in. Kind of funny that they didn't realize it.

Great job Gentlemen. You did something good. I, too, am a bit green over the .45. I carried an identical weapon in SE Asia in the late '60s and early '70s. That pistol always worked for me and saved my sorry a$$ on many occasions. You have a solid piece of history that needed to be saved not destroyed.
"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the people's liberty teeth (and) keystone... the rifle and the pistol are equally indispensable... more than 99% of them by their silence indicate that they are in safe and sane hands. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference .When firearms go, all goes, we need them every hour." -- George Washington

here are some before and after pics. the most difficult part was getting some old duct tape residue off the stock. i completely stripped and cleaned it and it turned out to be in really nice shape. just a little dirty.

Awesome - that is one of the old model (non TS [target stock] ) that had the chome finish. Those are rare compared to the normal powder coat. Yeah for a $100 you did well.

    update just for dr todd

ok... so i still haven't shot the bugger, but the stock felt a little sloppy and i was having a little trouble with feeding rounds even after i cleaned the gun up. so i called up hi-point. very nice folks. they said they could either drop a new stock in the mail or i could pay just $40 to upgrade to the tacticool stock... so i said "sure."
then the nice lady said "is that all you would like?"
i said "what else you got?"
she proceeded to list off the items they have so i ended up getting the tacticool stock, a folding fore-grip for $25 and a spare mag holder w/ 2 mags for $40. and since my order came to over $100 i got a free tshirt.... i didn't have to pay shipping because they considered the stock a warranty replacement.
and ya, i'm rubbing it in, so stop by and check out the new pics.

yeah, i even messaged them on facebook with my serial number to ask when my gun was manufactured. they messaged back and said "Looking like June of 04. And it is still covered by the warranty. Just an F.Y.I."
really nice of them to volunteer the information that it's under warranty without my asking. some companies try to weasel out of it.
