Todd Hadley Concealed-carry holder acquitted of deadly Milwaukee shooting, MJS

"Did the fact Todd Hadley had a permit to carry a concealed weapon work in his favor? "It helped in this regard: If he hadn't had the permit, he wouldn't have had the gun the way he did," said his attorney, Thomas Flanagan. Many defendants who raise self-defense in a shooting trial carry the baggage of having the gun illegally, either as a felon or without a permit, which can leave a bad first impression with a jury."

"Hadley then ran outside and tried to re-enter his house through the front door, but it was locked. The same five men surrounded him on the front porch. Feeling threatened, Hadley fired into the air, and some of the group scattered. Hadley ran across the street toward a laundry, but some of the men were still chasing him, Flanagan said. Hadley fired more shots, in the air and into the ground, hitting Markiese Woodson in the leg, but some of the men continued to advance."

    Was alcohol involved?

    The intoxicated men.... from link

    Oh yes.

How did any DA decide on pursuing this? He should be fired.

So Hadley was in jail for 11 months? He should now personally sue the DA for false imprisonment and mental anguish.

They make such a big deal about him having a permit (?!?!?!... you mean license?), though a license isn't required to carry on your own property, and he was apparently open carrying anyways which is legal in Wisconsin (even if chief Flynn doesn't like it).

fleeing the scene and leaving the state don't look good , but don't ,make him guilty either

it would have been a lot smarter to call 911 give name and explain you feel you need to leave your residence for your safety and that you will contact them the next day to answer questions , then get lawyer and have your lawyer make the contact on your behalf and answer any questions and be present during any questioning.

MAYBE he would not have gone to jail had he not fled the state. He should not have taken Biden's advice too. MAYBE he would not have been jailed for 11 months. How did having a CCL help him vs OCing with no CCL? any input on this?

lol. Hey, maybe the chicag--I mean--the milwaukee democrat party machine took some time off from going after anyone and everyone associated with Gov. Walker and the various donor lists, etc. to try and make an example of this guy? I mean, it's proven that if you make an example out of one, you can terrorize a whole village into silent submission......

OC vs CCL should have played no part in this , he was in his own building

the defense used the CCL to say he wasn't in Illegal possession of the gun , same thing they could have proven being that he was in his own building when it started.

it may have made it easier to drop any question of legal possession so that they could move on with the actual case.

I can see the self defense angle on this but he can't argue, as a CCL holder, that he doesn't know he is personally responsible for every bullet fired from his gun.
