Good grief, don't these people ever learn? Preemption and recall elections be damned!

Actually, yes they can. And apparently, miracle of miracles, this time someone actually DID.

My understanding is it went down in flames, 7-0. Not only that but the staff has been directed to prepare language to repeal the prohibitions already in place.

sorry it's after the meeting took place last night, but something to watch nonetheless....

Please excuse my ignorance im traveling to Castle Rock because my mother in law ( :banghead: ) wanted us to be there for her birthday. Instead of going home for my 1st christmas in the states since 2009. Any who i've been trying to study up on Colorado laws and everything seems pretty reasonable except for the Denver area. Im curious what are the atmospherics like in CR?

I've OC'd numerous times when passing through on my way each month to Aurora. I've hit restaurants, grocery stores, gas stations without incident. Was at the pump next to a State Trooper just last Friday and only conversation was "Good afternoon."

CR's code is located at http://colocode.com/CastleRockpdf.html. Particular section is 9.04.165: "9.04.165 Open carry of firearms.
It is unlawful for any person, except law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties, to openly carry a firearm in any Town-owned or -operated building, or on any Town-owned or -operated park, recreation area or property upon which the Town Manager has directed to be posted a notification that the carrying of firearms is prohibited. (Ord. 2003-41 §1, 2003)"

I haven't run into business with signs posted, but if I ever do, I'll take business elsewhere. The convenient Starbucks not far at all from the gas station I stop at also no longer enjoys my monthly visit.

Enjoy CR. It's a pretty cool place, just watch your speed on I-25. 65 is 65 and there's always law enforcement watching.

OC atmosphere in CR...

I have been OC'g in CR for the last five years - almost every day for the last three. During that time I have only had 2 encounters, neither one was of any serious level. For the most part it is a non-issue. Avoid the city buildings that ban OC, but otherwise not much to worry about. Been to most restaurants in the area and most people don't even notice.

That wasn't the case back over 5 years ago, but one of OCDO's earlier members (Centsi) educated the local police and since then very little drama (other than the recent attempt in this thread).

Let me know when you are in town if you want to connect with other OC'rs in CR.

Just FYI, there's a Murdoch's in Parker which is a lot closer, not in Denver City limits, and is OC friendly. If you want to avoid the People's Democratic Republic of Denverstan.

Open carried the entire time i was in Colorado i even pushed the envelope at Park Meadows and Vail there wasn't a sign so i proceeded i made it about an hour and a half before a police officer stopped me and told me i couldn't carry on the property and showed me to the entrance where they had a sign with even smaller print of prohibited items open alcohol containers, fireworks etc. and at the very bottom it said illegal firearms and all firearms. I put my sidearm in my vehicle and returned to my wife the officer said i couldn't be on the property anymore because the property manager didn't want me there. Told him to f*ck off asked for the property manager since it was a mall and 15 min later he couldn't produce one i just got a nice escort from a LEO until we left.

Vail just happened to be a uneducated BOOT officer, shaved head, looked 19 ish on a high horse which was settled very quicly when the supervisor i asked for arrived it was a 1/7 Marine which is always nice.

Anyways I even open carried at a movie theater location wasn't far from Aurora and no one gave a sh!t if anyone even noticed I wasn't aware. It sucked having to leave and come back to CA because well as we all know Kali is a repressed socialistic government and i feel naked now.

Thank You Colorado

Council votes to repeal open-carry ban

"Many, if not all, of the planning commissioners for the town of Castle Rock, Colorado may quit their jobs after the town council voted on Tuesday to allow guns to be openly carried in public buildings and parks. "

Any liberty-minded individuals looking for a job as a "planning commissioner?"
