I am expanding my search as FAR as I can because I really Really REALLY want another one of these. Like bad.

I'm looking for a Gerber 06 AUTO folding knife. NOT THE F.A.S.T.!!!!!

The FAST version is civilian and made in China. The actual AUTO is made in the USA and is military/police issue only.

I was given one of these while in Afghanistan and even had to have a special memo to take through Customs to be allowed to bring it home. I have since lost it in the move from Pitt.

If anyone knows ANYTHING about where or who I can get another one of these from I would GREATLY appreciate a heads up. I can't believe I lost it. It's about the size and durability of a damn brick. I'll never hold another knife that will compare.

eBay won't sell them for legal reasons. Gerber (and any other online source) wants a stack of paperwork and credentials to even have the option..... And even after all that they are anywhere from $150-300 depending on where you find them.

The only way to tell between the two without holding them is to look for the matte finish and the big silver blade release button.

Thanks for looking and any assistance.

Don't have any idea what you expect to pay, but $150.00 is not an unfair price for a S30V blade knife.

Some states will limit who can carry an automatic opener, hence that is probably why you are running into the certification thing although I didn't see that disclosure on the above.

You are correct, it's not unfair at all. I'm trying to search out a deal for under $100. Good luck I know but I've seen them before, just can't did them now that I actually have the money.

And the paperwork is because these knives are only authorized for retail sale to military/police/security personnel who's tasks require the use of such a tool.

A when ordering online they require (just as an example) includes military id, DD214, commander approval, and must ship to a state that does not regulTe the use of auto blades.
