Beretta has eliminated Virginia from its short list of states to move its company because anti-gun Democrat Terry McAuliffe was elected governor.

The firearms manufacturer made the decision to scratch Virginia off the list after the McAuliffe campaign fixated on restricting gun owners’ rights after receiving over $1 million in campaign donations from billionaire New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg.

Thank you Gov. Bloomberg I mean Gov. McAuliffe. Mikie thinks that million was money well spent.

Elections have consequences. Thanks again, progressives/liberals/third party voters, and those conservatives who sat on their hands on election day.

Look, Cuccinelli could have made the argument that a gun-hating win would cost jobs. After all, he claimed his platform was all about jobs. Instead, he ran a bumbling campaign and refused to talk about firearms at all, unless asked.

Incompetence and cowardice have consequences.

This is particularly sad for Beretta.

Beretta already has a warehouse operation in Spotsylvania County, mere yards away from the future end-station of the Virginia Railway Express (VRE). If they had chosen to expand that location, they could have set up a deal with VRE to run a reverse commute train which would have allowed a good portion of their workers a relatively stress-free commute for a few months - time enough to transition to Virginia, or find something else, should they choose not to move with the company.

Sad indeed.

Water over the dam Cuccinelli ran the campaign he ran, people voted the way they voted, we have an executive branch of lizards, Beretta ain't moving here.

Nothing to see anymore, let's move on.

I am curious, does anyone know what site they were considering? Was it the Spotsy site, or somewhere else?

And PN, yes, it's a done deal, but part of affecting positive change is studying the failure of the past, and educating the uninformed.

Sadly, many of the McAuliffe supporters would rather not have these particular jobs anyway, but that great "muddle in the middle" who decide every election, just might care.

The problem with educating TFred...is some people are untrainable and the attempt will just spoil the Barnum and Bailey show.

What are the other locations that Beretta is considering?
Have not found a definitive list showing their other considerations. Seven states are apparently in the running including West Virginia and Georgia.

Was surprised to see the number of people that turned out to oppose anti-gun legislation in Annapolis, Md.
