The suspects rounded up Tuesday are accused of scamming millions in disability benefits by falsely claiming to suffer from stress-relates illnesses.

Lavallee, Minerva, Hale and Esposito over the course of 26 years reportedly recruited other NYPD officers, fire fighters and correction officers to help them submit the fraudulent claims.

Just another isolated incident of a few bad apples.........:p

Only a hundred or so? Seems a wee bit low in number to me. It is NYC after all. Nothing but a few thrown to the wolves so that the herd can continue on its way. Happens all the time.

The same thing was happening in Maryland a few years back.
Cops put in their time,........ then within a year of their retirement, several "injured themselves on the job" so severely, that they HAD to get "Permanent Disability" status which gave them a MUCH higher income for the rest of their lives than they'd receive from regular retirement.
Many "injured" officers were observed performing strenuous acts that were "impossible" on the job while "Permanently Disabled".
I've seen a few GS'ers pull the same stunt.
I'm sure every occupation has the same.
