One less Illegal Mayor Against Guns

From the National Review: Andrew Johnson

A former Pennsylvania mayor who was a member of Michael Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns has been sentenced to up to 20 months in jail for a gun-related crime. Last February, James Schiliro, the mayor of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania, fired a gun in an attempt to intimidate a man to whom he said he was attracted.

Schiliro had had police bring 20-year-old Nicholas Dorsam to his home to drink wine, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. When Dorman attempted to leave, Schiliro prevented him from doing so, shooting the gun into a stack of papers and threatened to kill himself. Schiliro later credited Dorsam with helping save his life.

The former mayor was among 600 local lawmakers who signed a letter to Congress calling for gun-control legislation. His name was dropped from the letter after his arrest in March.

Gun control for thee, but not for me.....

Heard that the MAIG member mayor of Carbondale, IL is moving to AZ to take another job. That should be fun for him since people actually open carry there.

I'll keep an eye out for him. I would love to see the look on his face should someone (jokingly?) invite him to an OC dinner. Might even be a cause for an OC get-together here in AZ.

Do NOT jokingly invite him-just invite him...

We need to do more to let those jokers know what is up and maybe they would understand.

Ive suggested to two gun cluns I belong to to invite local and US Congress persone (Senators and Reps) to the one big shoot each has every summer. Why not--I cant seem to get an answer.

In the case of our two US Senators, both (D)s and antigunners, make em say NO!!! Invite em now for the big shoots in Jul/Aug. Now so they cant say--Im busy..

I understand exposure (instead of their usual rhetoric) is what they need. I'm just not sure whether foaming-at-the-mouth antis would even consider attending.
You do make a great point though: if these antis actually KNEW what was going on in the firearms world, maybe they'd finally understand why so much of what they say is completely wrong.

Either way, I've just been inspired to start a "OC lunch/dinner: what works best for you?" thread on the AZ forum. Maybe I'll finally get to put names with faces.:)

I saw a list, maybe a year or so ago but do not remember where, of MAIG members who had been convicted of significant crimes. It was rather lengthy. Apparently many MAIG members are opposed to guns in the hands of the common citizen but not to embezzling, sexual harrassment, abuse of power, and myriad other crimes. Color me unspurprised at another one of their members showing contempt for the very laws they pass (and with a firearm no less) and under which we must live.

Of course this man would be against guns in the hands of common people.
He judges us by what HE would do.
He truly believes anyone would just grab a gun and shoot for any asinine reason just like he DID.
He KNOWS he shouldn't be trusted with a gun and assumes no one is smarter or more intelligent then he is.

That's just the way anti's think.

You could almost say it was ironically ironic. 'I wouldn't trust ME with a gun, no way I'm trusting the guy at the bathhouse, or my constituency'.

Provoking revolt

I guarantee he won't get far here. For one thing, this is one state where the Indians (in our case, the Navaho and Apache) didn't lose. They make up one-fifth of the population and own outright one-sixth of the state, including the best silver mines and several profitable casinos. They're also very much opposed to gun control.

Speaking of which, for you folks in Connecticut, here's a tactic: contact the police union and persuade them that any attempt to enforce this unconstitutional confiscation law will get cops killed. If you can talk the police into going on strike, that will put paid to this law -- and all hopes of similar laws in other states.

Good hunting.

I'm not one to believe in anything weird or odd, but I feel something strong coming on here. This type of news happening and the changing of our country. This maybe a bit off on the topic, but I feel this country is starting to go back to its roots and becoming stronger.

Like I said odd comment for me to make here, but change is happening for the good here.
