SELF DEFENSE LEVEL 1 Price: $120 include you $20 range card which you need every time you visit.

Synopses:

TO TEACH THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ATTITUDE NECESSARY FOR OWNING AND USING A PISTOL SAFELY AND THE LAW REGARDING WHEN YOU CAN AND CAN’T USE LETHAL (DEADLY) FORCE.

Self Defense Level 1 is an 8 hour course which is divided into three phases. Phases 1 and 2 are conducted in the air-conditioned classroom. Phase 3 is conducted on the adjacent range (provisions made if raining).

LEGAL (approximately 2 hours)
INSTRUCTOR: Judge Rusty Johnston Circuit Judge State of Alabama, NRA Certified Instructor: Pistols and Revolvers; Personal Protection in the Home; Director 13th Circuit Court Police 1999-2009.
- the history of the Bill of Rights.
- the history and application of the 2nd Amendment.
- civil and criminal liability if your are involved in a self defense shooting.
- Lethal Force, when it can and can’t be legally used in Alabama and Mississippi.
- firearms laws in Alabama including “open carry”.
- what to do at a police stop.
- what to do if you are involved in a self defense shooting.
- discussion of criminal defense attorneys
- open carry in Alabama

SAFE AND PROPER USE OF YOUR HANDGUN (approximately 2.5 hours)
INSTRUCTORS: Adam Strange NRA Law Enforcement Certified
-History of the handgun
-Safety and proper gun-handling
-The N.R.A. Rules for Safe Gun Handling
-The parts of a pistol, and how to breakdown for cleaning
-Proper Grip and Sight Picture
-The different type of pistols
-Review of your own pistol (if brought) and the Beretta M-9
RANGE TIME (Approximately 3.0 hours)
-Shooting at golf balls with a .22 caliber revolver and .22 caliber semi-automatic.
-Shooting at paper targets with either the Beretta M-9 or any handgun which you brought.

Class begins at 9:00. We conduct a “working lunch” which means either bring a bag lunch or you may order from Subway (limited menu) and it will be delivered at noon.
COURSE PREREQUISITES: NONE
CLOTHING: COMFORTABLE CLOTHING WITH A HAT. STUDENTS MAY WANT TO BRING THEIR OWN EYE AND HEARING PROTECTION ALTHOUGH IT WILL BE AVAILABLE.
AMMUNITION: IF BRINGING YOUR OWN HANDGUN, BRING 100 ROUNDS OF BRASS CASED, FULL METAL JACKETED (FMJ) AMMUNITION FOR THE CALIBER OF YOUR HANDGUN. IF PLANNING ON USING THE SUPPLIED BERETTA M-9’S, BRING 100 ROUNDS OF 9MM BRASS CASED, FULL METAL JACKETED AMMUNITION.

RAIN OR SHINE

NOTE: IN ORDER TO BE REGISTERED FOR THE CLASS YOU MUST HAVE PAID AT LEAST ½ OF THE COURSE FEE BEFORE 12:00 NOON ON FRIDAY.

IN THE EVENT THAT TWO OR FEWER STUDENTS HAVE REGISTERED BY 12:00 NOON ON FRIDAY, WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CANCEL THE CLASS AND RESCHEDULE YOU IN A LATER CLASS.
