Nebraska State Firearms Rights Act

Nebraska state senator Bill Kintner has introduced the State Firearms Rights Act (LB1030) here in our state. I believe it's fairly similar to laws passed in a few other states that would make it illegal to enforce federal firearm/ammo/etc laws in the state. Also, this bill would make it illegal for cities or counties to create gun laws that go beyond those in place at the state level (so a certain city couldn't require a special permit to open carry, for example).

It's sad that we're in a position where we feel like we need to pass a law like this. The Second Amendment should be clear enough...nevertheless, it's a worthwhile bill, in my opinion.

When I saw the thread title, I thought, "Oh, great, another bill whereby the State grants the Right, leaving it the ability to take it away."

I couldn't have been more wrong. If the bill does what you say it does, it is exactly how States should bar the federal government and local governments from interfering with the Right. Hopefully, Nebraska itself is not interfering with the Right.

Much better bill than a lot of States (including Alabama) claim protect the Right.

Get this passed and then start repealing some of the draconian restrictions that the state puts on carrying and you will have a great state.

Agreed. I'd love to see "Constitutional Carry" in Nebraska (and everywhere else, of course). And the ability to carry anywhere and everywhere. It doesn't make sense to me that we have to drop our right to keep and bear arms (the one that "shall not be infringed") just because we step onto sacred school/government/etc ground.
