    Pro OC POEMS

Just because we seem to have some members with poetic inclinations (here's where it started http://forum.opencarry.org/forums/sh...ed-Carry/page2), I'm starting a thread here about poetry and OC. If you ever have that creative spark and want to contribute, feel free to do so.
Poems need not conform strictly to traditional formats, but may be appreciated more.
I carry to defend my loved ones; Desensitizing and educating are secondary & tertiary reasons. Anything else is unintended.

    A sampling

Who says guns and fine art don't mix? Here's a sampling of the creativity of some of our members:

    Just because I open carry

What if someone tries to steal it?
Recite this poem and really feel it:

If you try to take my gun,
I'll shoot you with the other one.

    When the bad guys attack
I'll shoot them in the head

    And then keep on shooting
    Until the threat is dead

    ...I mean, stopped.

    Get looks and whispers, but howls nary;
That's how to spot the transplants from afar,
    With loopy looks and hybrid cars;
Perhaps they feel the sudden urge
To amble free and Freedom splurge?

Good, you see, in "Announced" Carry,
    Perhaps a tee; a reveille.
But how UN-normal that would be!
    We disagree. On THAT agree.
Perhaps it's simply not to be,
Not likely; not my "cup o' tea".
I say to thee "not my OC."

    My apologies to John Fogerty:

I see the crime rate rising.
I see trouble on the way.
    I see muggin’s and fightin'.
    I see bad times today.

    Don't go unarmed tonight,
Well, he’s bound to take your life,
There's a bad man on the right.

    I see the signs agrowin'.
I know the end is coming soon.
    I fear zombies are aroamin'.
Republic’s in a state of ruin.

    Don't go unarmed tonight,
Well, he’s bound to take your life,
There's a bad man on the right.
    All right!

Hope you got your [stuff] together.
Hope you are quite prepared to fight.
Looks like it’s time for slappin’ leather.
Old eye is fightin’ for the Right.

    Don't go unarmed tonight,
Well, he’s bound to take your life,
There's a bad man on the right.

    Don't go unarmed tonight,
Well, he’s bound to take your life,
There's a bad man on the right.

Haiku verses (because ... why not)

    Carrying my gun
Good folks have nothing to fear
    But criminals do.

    Carrying my gun
like a spare tire in the trunk
    Crucial if needed.

    Sitting down for food
    Diner patrons pay no mind
    Weapon at my side.

    Shopping at the store
Lady asks me "what's that for?"
    I turn and answer ...

    "Self-defense is my
    own responsibility
    no bodyguards here."

    "Don't want to use it
But I have it if needed.
    Have a good day ma'am."

    Polite encounters
    Do more to further OC
    Than all of Youtube.

    Millions of gun folks
    Small minority do harm
    Vast numbers are good

    When more folks learn this
It will help to turn the tide
    And then we all win.

Nice try- very creative, and well thought out... but you don't have the "traditional" haiku structure of 5-7-5 in any but the very last one. Pax...

    Hi Folks

Let me give some poetry a try...

My zip code is in an anti state, if I were to open carry, the big house would be my fate.
I reside in an anti state, where liberties don't rate, where liberties don't rate, so if I were to open carry, "the big house would be my fate"

Its not paranoia or fear or that life is real scary.

I enjoy our liberties and that is why I carry.
I am not anti Cop I am just pro Citizen.

I was always taught that for haiku in English, it's 17 syllables (in the 5-7-5 structure), and has nothing to do with how many words are used.

    I've heard the same thing
Since the first, third, or fifth grade.
    But things may have changed.

Thank you everyone for posting, venting, and letting out the inner poet.
Here's one I found while browsing the threads under my "Funnies" tab:

    OC for me,
    OC for thee,
    OC round the freedom tree.

    Be so bold,
    Never too old,
To exercise this way, I'm told.

    A right unused,
    A right abused,
Makes me all the more enthused.

    Protect this right,
    With power and might,
    Relinquishing nothing in sight.

    We fight for today,
    In many a way,
So that we can all shout, olé!

    OC for me,
    OC for thee,
    OC round the freedom tree.

P.S. I'm not poet, don't you know it?

Protection of my life was granted at birth,
Not By a Man but a power not living on this Earth.

So day to day i walk through this life,
Hoping and praying to encounter no strife.

On my hip resides a Tool,
To protect me and mine from any ill intending fool.

It's not there to brag it's not there for show,
It's there because my life is precious and i want the world to know.

So if you see me as you travel the daily road,
My protection is my responsibility from God i was told.
"To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them."
