As I said before, if one just asks to inspect records, one need not file a written request-an oral request is OK.
The case 2013-398 I find humorous ... the town was providing the lady with requests until the first selectman found out about it and put the brakes on her inspecting records.
But the case has citations to other cases in respect to our FOIA laws so I thought it would be helpful to people.
I recently asked to inspect records of Sen. Williams ... he refused an oral request .. they took no notes, etc...so now I have a complaint filed against him at the FOIC ... wait until I re-state my request - I asked for a boatload of records.
Did the same with Hartley, DESPP (several occasions) and several others....these goofballs just refused to accept an oral request. Now their ability to argue exemptions and exceptions are more limited.
I'm getting about 1/2 the people demanding that I give them written requests....when I ask just to inspect (and I rarely ever ask for copies).
